🎥 Buildings lie flattened in La Guaira, Venezuela after twin earthquakes struck on June 24. Nearly 2,300 people are confirmed dead, with tens of thousands more missing. The quakes likely damaged or destroyed 58,870 buildings, according to NASA preliminary satellite data

Just hours after the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela that killed over 1,900 people, ICE attempted to deport children and families from the Dilley Trailer Prison to Venezuela. They were woken up in the middle of the night and sent to Arizona on their way to Venezuela. The families were ultimately sent back to Dilley but worry that they could be deported at any time.
It is unthinkable to send children and families, who have committed no crimes, into a country plunged into chaos by natural disaster.
Last week, 146 men, women, and children were deported back home to Venezuela hours before the earthquakes—many are suspected to have been killed. These actions are cruel and un-American. I am calling on the Trump Administration to halt all deportations to Venezuela and to shut down the Dilley Trailer Prison.
Devastating earthquakes strike the north of Venezuela. The government ignored all warnings about the risks and then proved unable to handle the emergency.

Venezuela’s rescue teams were filmed using borrowed cellphones as flashlights, exposing a near-total lack of basic emergency equipment after years of economic collapse following devastating earthquakes.
Casualties still being assessed.
Venezuela 🇻🇪: several housing projects in La Guaira collapsed at the foundation due to the earthquake.
The Chavista government had been warned for years that the cheap flats it was building were not safe in case of an earthquake.

Iceland—previously the only Arctic nation without mosquitoes—no longer holds that distinction.
"The detection of mosquitoes just north of Reykjavík in 2025 reflects an ecological shift already underway," write Amanda M. Koltz and Lauren E. Culler in a new #ScienceEditorial.

Breaking News: A top U.S. counterterrorism official resigned, publicly citing his opposition to the Iran war. “I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran,” Joe Kent, the head of the National Counterterrorism Center, wrote on social media. https://t.co/Et2y0h2HrQ
After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today.
I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.
It has been an honor serving under @POTUS and @DNIGabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC.
May God bless America.
Speaking during a luncheon this morning for the Board of the Kennedy Center, President Trump says that he knew Iran was going to use the Strait of Hormuz as a “weapon,” while also stating that he predicted 9/11.
“I knew about the Strait - that it would be a weapon - which I predicted a long time ago, I predicted all of this stuff. You guys were very generous in that I predicted all of it. I predicted Osama bin Laden would knock out the World Trade Center. I made that prediction a year before he did it. I said, you better get him. He's a bad guy. I watched him be interviewed one time and I said, that's a bad guy. You better get him. One year before exactly, I wrote it in a book. You can even check about a year before the World Trade Center came down. President Clinton actually had a shot at him and he didn't take it. Unfortunately, I'm not blaming him for that, but he didn't take it. And he ended up knocking down the World Trade Center. But I predicted that too. I predicted a lot of things.”
In Ven, the US launched a war in 2026, and the regime surrendered immediately. In Iran, the US launched a war, and the regime fights back. What's the difference. First, state capacity. Evidence: oil production levels. Both regimes were sanctioned, but only Ven collapsed.
