UPDATE: the resolution passed! Narrowly, thanks to @loridroste. Thank you for your change of heart on this issue and leadership on zoning reform. Folks from Okinawa were tuned in to the council meeting and very grateful for the support.
The U.S. base construction in Okinawa is growing more and more disastrous. @maiahibbett wrote about new plans to use soil containing remains from the war dead. Tonight, Berkeley City Council will vote on a resolution against it. It didn't pass last year.

Lots of other big agenda items on the council agenda tonight (excited about @loridroste's and @TaplinTerry's work on zoning!) So I hope the Okinawa resolution sails through on consent agenda w the council's full support.
@evangoldin@greg_shill This comparison falls apart for me when I think about the vastly different ways food and housing are accessed - for one, how often we all need to figure out what to eat vs. where to live.
So, I encourage anyone who can to join the picket lines tomorrow or Monday! You can sign up for a location, shift, and get on the text/phone bank with @DSAEastBay here: https://t.co/qX2NsQHTY5

Because this kind of purposeful, collective, work is dignified, gratifying, and healing. Troy told me that a lot of his patients really just need someone to talk to, and I'm feeling so grateful to have benefited from his listening, too. 18/
