Devestating news, but what an inspiration to us all Sarah's life and dedication should be. It's still on us to build the future she wanted for the world.

A terrible loss. Sending so much love to all her colleagues, comrades and loved ones

[Climate & Community Institute @cplusci]

On Saturday, our community and the world lost Dr. Sarah Knuth, one of the foremost thinkers on energy, climate, and just transitions. She was the driving intellectual force behind so much of CCI’s research. We will miss her desperately.

Thank you @CMSandyNurse !

[Council Member Sandy Nurse @CMSandyNurse]

Yesterday, we rallied because a failing grid + extreme heat is a matter of life and death.

500+ New Yorkers die every summer from extreme heat. We can’t accept that.

Pass Intro 359 & Reso 422 to build public battery storage, fight corporate greed, and save lives. ☀️🔋⚡️

[Kate Aronoff @KateAronoff]

I wrote about the debate over whether Democrats should talk about “climate,” which is kind of a nonsensical question, and how it’s sort of like a debate over whether to talk about capitalism

[Public Power NY @publicpowerny]

Hot off the press: @claireforny & @DianaforQueens call for public power to lower our utility bills!

New Yorkers are demanding $200M in the state budget for public renewables to lower energy costs, create union jobs, clean our air, and meet climate goals. Link in reply! 📰

A must read. Really refreshing to see the political economy of our electric grid laid out so clearly and cogently.

Excellent essay

"Utility investments are as reliable as they come, often safer even than an index fund . . . While the average equity-return forecast for Wall Street’s biggest money managers is approximately 6.7%, the average ROE for U.S. electric utilities is about 9.6%."

@pinkgiantjay See you there lol

This is the endgame - New York state’s budget will be finished in a few days, and we need @GovKathyHochul to support the GAP Fund. All New Yorkers deserve healthy homes!

Huge thanks to @hasanthehun for having Dr. Villamarin and me on yesterday. Nowhere else will you hear directly from a veteran of Cuba's medical missions amid all the reporting on the program. And thanks to the Hasanabi Industrial Complex for the edit!

Last night, Alfredo “Lelo” Juarez was taken by ICE in Washington State, where he has lived, worked, and organized as a farmworker since he was 14, on his way to take his partner to work. Take action against this attack on farmworker leadership now:

Such a privilege to go on Volts today with the great @johannabozuwa !! The three of us had a great conversation about how we can build public power in NY and across the US. Slam that link:

Had the great pleasure of interviewing @sandeepvaheesan for @jacobin !

While we are in a very challenging moment, I found Sandeep's book to be a valuable study on how public power advocates have worked through dark times. Link:

Spot on analysis in the Times from @triofrancos and @aldatweets

[Thea Riofrancos @triofrancos]

What are the ways forward for climate action under Trump?

National policy is foreclosed. But a lot can happen at the state and local level. @aldatweets and I argue that we must embrace green economic populism, tackling the cost-of-living crisis and the climate crisis together 🧵

[Johanna Bozuwa @johannabozuwa]

Ok, an absolutely fantastic book just dropped by @sandeepvaheesan !!

Want to learn more? Come hang out w us and @KateAronoff + @advaitarun_ to discuss on Dec 17th in dc!

Pundits and billionaires hope to blame their own election losses on the left.

But the only way to win the masses is with the kinds of life-changing policies that @DemSocialists are fighting for and winning nationwide.

THREAD: We are furious at what a second Trump regime will mean for our lives, for those we love, for the planet and for the working class. In the coming times, solidarity and strategy will be even more important than ever before.

The thing about running to the right is that Republicans are better at being the right, so if people want to vote for the right they will vote for Republicans
