@SteveOnSpeed Thanks for your vibes but survey data don’t back this up for the vast majority. Whether it’s 70 degrees in February matters predictably less than relationships, health, job stress, money, and sense of control over your life.
@newstart_2024 I’m aware of his failings, but I still hold Arnold Schwarzenegger as a role model. The man had a clear vision and succeeded in so many distinct competitive domains.
@JohnLeFevre@robkhenderson “The future is already here—it’s just not evenly distributed.” Slow adoption is not proof of a bubble. See Everett Rogers’ Diffusion of Innovations: innovators and early adopters are typically about 15% of the population. ChatGPT reached 100 million users in 2 months.
@PTetlock If we’re just considering the person’s factual representations and arguments, this is a simple ad hominem. But if it’s whether we should appreciate or even patronize their creative accomplishments. I suppose we all get to vote with our attention and $.
@AdamMGrant Thanks for this acknowledgement, Adam. But it think you could go further in recognizing how expectations like these especially discriminate against boys. You seem happy to point out systems that disadvantage women.
@bendreyfuss It’s counterintuitive. But the food particles actually serve as cleaning agents in the water sloshing about, giving it some extra abrasive power. Clean off anything that won’t be absorbed in the water, like peas or whole noodles.
@diawlectical Social media is fucking awful. Let’s all jump on this guy for his food preferences. Maybe he wants to seem down to earth like politicians eating at McDonalds. Maybe he’s telling the truth (and I tend to agree with him). Really expensive restaurants can be a let down sometimes.
@TheCatholicEngr Too many workplaces elevate technically competent people to managerial roles, and they don’t necesarily belong there. There need to be promotions without changing the entire nature of the work from technical expertise to leading people.
@dieworkwear Practicality, not homophobia, is why “normies” don’t dress this way. The left is expensive to acquire and maintain, time consuming to put on, uncomfortable, and performative. The outfit on the right looks like garbage. The clothes you mock suffer none of these problems.
