@SmallerFishGAA "Screening" is where you take out your opponents man. This is better described as "boxing out" (using basketball terminology) where you neutralise your own man.
The phrases don't really matter, but do give clues as to what ideas they use and how they implement and prepare IMO
@PlayerGaelic It's not done to gain "free" steps, but to drive into an open space, as it pushes the ball further ahead.Only done where player is confident in the running option, as it risks losing ball control.Unlike a "normal" bounce where you may want to re-gather ball quickly to scan or pass
@SmallerFishGAA You could put "patience" in that bucket too. Waiting for defences to give up gaps/opportunities is a fool's errand. They're too good and well conditioned now
@SmallerFishGAA Are you sure? Agree there's a major issue with risk-taking when defences are set-up, but much less so when on the break. I think most players would instinctively know that recycling in this situations gives the advantage back to the tracking defenders
What the hell happens at 0:03 here - he could take the defender, but sees the third man coming and decides to feign going back, in order to trick the third man into committing? Ridiculous
@thebull017@SmallerFishGAA In fairness, he did follow up every statement with "... from a Kerry perspective". We just never heard any other perspective
