Just watched the hugely inspiring film ‘Citizen Jane’ celebrating the life and work of activist and urban writer, Jane Jacobs. #janejacobs#policeboxproject (1/3)
Sad to see properties on Gilmore Pl and Leamington Ter flooded last week from the heavy rain. Could the police box be used to help recovery and minimise risk in the future? A place to store sand bags, pumps and tools to unblock gullies? #communityresilience#floodaware#flood
‘Road Gullies’ // Leamington Terrace is relatively steep and when it rains, water flows quite quickly down the street - carrying with it grit and silt.
Gullies along the kerb are designed to intercept the water and stop water ponding in the road and at properties. (1/3)
‘Imagination’ // Don’t feel like you have to colour within the lines! When coming up with designs, dream big. Have fun and remember there are no bad ideas. Silly is great! #reimagine#guidetoplacemaking
We would encourage you to explore potential temporary projects in your area. Is there any vacant or derelict land in your area that would make a good #meanwhile place, before the land is developed? #policeboxproject#guidetoplacemaking

‘The POLL-ice Box’ We think it is really important that local voices are heard. One of our initial ideas was to create a local 'polling station'. A place where people in the community could come and vote on certain issues and ask key questions. (1/3)
Excited to be starting the #policeboxproject with @jane_gill_. Over the next few months, we will be sharing our experience as we learn and help to support a thriving neighbourhood by reimagining an unused police box in Edinburgh and exploring potential uses for it.
Welcome to the #policeboxproject. We'll be using this page to share our lessons learned as we hope to transform a place. We'll also be sharing top tips from #artists, #urbandesigners and anyone with an interesting insight. Follow us for our 'beginners guide to #placemaking'
‘What is placemaking?’ A guide to #placemaking should probably start with a definition of what placemaking actually means. To be honest, we’ve been struggling to put it into words. The aim of this project is to find out and as we learn, we hope to share our understanding. (1/2)
We want to hear suggested streets that could benefit from limiting vehicle access, creating spaces for people to support physical distancing. Email: [email protected]
More changes to come this week, keep up to date at:

Inspired by the launch of Amsterdam's City Doughnut, I've started to map relevant performance indicators from the @ScotGovOutcomes against the Doughnut Social Foundations.
It would be great to see @Edinburgh_CC follow Amsterdam in adopting principles of #DoughnutEconomics
