I can fantasize about hitting the game winning three in an nba finals but in the end I play basketball because its fun to be active with friends.

Im glad that it worked out for tsimerman and gowers, their drive to be the first to solve important problems ultimately gave us plenty of great work and breakthroughs.

@WKCosmo A couple things: first of all this workshop was not just about harmless coding. Second, the majority of the signees and the driving force behind the letter are not the fields medalists but other young graduate students or early career mathematicians.

@nihilunbounded Yeah honestly it was nice to see the reaction of non-math friends just living life after ranting to them about the navier stokes bs. Most were just “damn that sucks but idgaf.” Life goes on and there are bigger issues at play. We’re all in the same boat ultimately.
