Watch the bait-and-switch:
A) When the Bible is used to advance a “conservative” cause, it’s “evil Christian Nationalism” (that he’s spent his entire campaign decrying) or it’s “forcing your religion on other people” and must be FORECEFULLY DENOUNCED.
But when the Bible is used to advance a progressive cause, aw shucks it’s just me being Christlike, “speaking truth to power”, and seeking “justice” or “compassion.”
His whole campaign is, ”Christian Nationalism for ME, but not for THEE” and hoping you won’t notice.
B) What progressives do is take the commands Jesus gave to INDIVIDUALS and apply them to the GOVERNMENT.
When Christians use words like “caring” or “generous” they mean caring for people and being generous with their own resources.
When progressives use the words “caring” and “generous”, they mean “vote for the government to forcibly take OTHER PEOPLE’S RESOURCES at gunpoint and redistribute it against their will.”
Of course, this *always* backfires because governments do not work like people and churches, so with governments you tends to get more of what you INCENTIVIZE and less of what you PENALIZE.
This is why cities and states that throw billions of $ at “solving homelessness” end up with MORE HOMELESSNESS, they do not “solve homelessness.”
This is a theology-nerd thing, but in general progressives want the government to do the roles of the church and individual (charity, compassion, care), and they want NOBODY to do the role of the State (administer justice and be a “terror to the wrongdoer”).
^^^this always results in societal chaos and darkness.
Further…
What Talarico (and other progressives) always do is selevtively edit Jesus, so that he becomes a mascot for their cause.
I can do a “when Jesus…” list too, but James won’t like mine…
- When Jesus defined marriage, he defined it as only between a man and a woman
- When Jesus talked about gender, he rooted it in biology, saying “he made them male and female”
- When Jesus talked about harming children (abortion), he said it would be better for you to have millstone tied around your neck and be cast into the ocean
- … that time when Jesus encouraged his followers to buy weapons for self-defense (Luke 22:36)
- Jesus’ family strictly obeyed the government’s border / migration / census laws.
- When Jesus talked about salvation, he said belief in him was the ONLY WAY
- When Jesus healed the sick, he didn’t need a deductible… there were no insurance companies in AD 30, and Jesus was using miraculous power, not paying doctors. This would be like an anti-vaxxer saying “JESUS WASNT VACCINATED!” as justification for their position)
- When Jesus fed the hungry, he FED THE HUNGRY. He did not vote for the government to forcibly take other people’s stuff at gunpoint and redistribute it against their will.
I could go on and on and on and on…
The point is, Jesus is a LORD of the universe, not a MASCOT for your cause.
"It’s not to say that he’s cruel and mean and awful. He gets overexcited about what could be, and therefore overlooks the people around him and the consequences of what he’s doing.” - Daniel Craig on Uncle Andrew.
One of the goals in reading Narnia to my kids was for them to learn about evil adults. They exist. They do not have good intentions. They are manipulative. They use people and do not love people. Uncle Andrew is literally Exhibit A. He's not merely "overexcited" - he's evil and preys on children in the name of his fantasy.
The ongoing reputational rehabilitation project of villains is not good for the world or for kids. It is good for evil adults, though. An amoral world is an immoral world.
Amy Coney Barrett’s record tells a troubling story.
Before Dobbs, she voted with the conservative position in 81% of non-unanimous cases. Since then, that number has dropped sharply into the 50–60% range in subsequent terms — including on major cases involving birthright citizenship, election procedures, and administrative power, where she has sided with Chief Justice Roberts and the liberals.
The Dobbs leak triggered violent threats and protests aimed directly at Supreme Court justices. If the threat of violence or intimidation can move a justice’s votes on foundational issues, we have a constitutional crisis on our hands. Judicial independence is not optional — it is the foundation of the rule of law. When justices appear to bend under pressure, public trust collapses and the entire system is at risk.
This cannot be allowed to stand. Threats against the Court must be met with zero tolerance, full investigations, and real consequences — no matter who makes them. Anything less is an attack on self-government itself.
Her discomfort shows how difficult it is to justify abortion when it's described plainly instead of being dressed up in manipulative language. What other forms of "healthcare" require this barbarism?
Genesis 1–2 and Jeremiah 29:4–7 are foundational to how I think about political theology. In Genesis, God establishes the created order—marriage, family, work, cultural mandate. In Jeremiah, God instructs His people in exile to build houses, plant gardens, marry, raise children, and seek the good of the city. The exile becomes a replay of Eden: creation order continues, even when the world is disordered. It maps what we are to do in a world marred by sin.
That matters because Christians often talk about “creation issues” only when opposing abortion or same-sex marriage. Those are crucial. But creation order is bigger than negations. It is about cultivating the social conditions in which families can form and flourish.
Here’s where today’s political fight on the Right becomes morally significant. If young men face stagnant wages, inflated housing costs, and limited economic mobility, that is not merely an economic problem. It is a creation order problem. When it becomes nearly impossible for a young man to secure meaningful work and afford a home, the first casualty is family formation.
And family formation is the irreplaceable cornerstone of the created order.
So if I were writing the marching orders for a second Trump administration, they would be focused laser-like on three things: prioritize affordability, housing, and family formation. If we fail here, nothing else—whether trade policy or immigration reform—will save us. A nation that does not make it possible for families to form is a nation committing quiet suicide.
🚨 BREAKING: It was just revealed that after the man fainted in the Oval Office today, President Trump rushed to speak with the man’s WIFE to calm her down.
A president who cares ❤️
DR OZ: “He’s just a wonderful human being that he would take time.”
“He could have done off and done 10 other things but he actually cared that the wife of a man that he’s never met before felt in a safer place.”
This is why we love 47.
Political violence is a feature, not a bug of progressivism.
Because progressivism is built on top of a Critical Theory lens that sees the world through "Oppressed vs Oppressor" categories rather than a Christian Theology lens of "Right vs Wrong", it trains people to see opponents not as mistaken, but as evil oppressors.
If you believe someone is mistaken, you try to persuade them (what @charliekirk11 did).
If you believe someone is an evil oppressor ("literally Hitler!", "fascist", "existential threat to democracy", virtually everything and everyone is "racist"), you will feel a moral obligation to stop them.
This is why there is radically disproportionate violence emerging on the Left.
Prayer is not freaking enough. Prayers does not end school shootings. prayers do not make parents feel safe sending their kids to school. Prayer does not bring these kids back. Enough with the thoughts and prayers.
@howertonjosh@ryanburge@BradWilcoxIFS Hey @howertonjosh, yesterday you posted some great insight into Nehemiah and biblical archaeology on IG. I meant to screenshot, but forgot to. Could you turn it into a thread on X? Getting ready to teach some students on the trustworthiness of Scripture!
@JoelFKorytko@carmenjoyimes What you’re describing is quite different from what Dr. Imes appears to be doing in these tweets- recommending and encouraging others to read those books.
