Beyond solving the affordable menstrual hygiene challenge, the MAKA pads initiative is also empowering youth, refugees and generally women by employing and involving them in the production, distribution and sensitization processes.
From papyrus suppliers, factory workers, process managers, distributors, sales agents to VHTs, MAKA pads employs 60% women. We await your support as we turn more women into stable bread earners.

Have you ever wondered where all the heaps of exam sheets go after each university semester, well, being a lecturer at Makerere University, the late Eng. Dr. Moses .K. Musaazi decided to process this waste paper and combine it with papyrus to create a hygienic sanitary pad that;

Allows absorption for more than 8 hours

Is Environmentally friendly

Innovation Consortium is a group of companies and individuals with very refined skillsets and ingenuity. And this week, we tell you about MakaPads, a product from one of our member companies "Technology for Tomorrow" @TomorrowUganda
Developed by the late Eng. Dr. Moses .K. Musaazi, MakaPads are locally made sanitary pads. They're made out of abundantly available local materials that include papyrus and waste paper. MAKA stands for;
M- Menstruation
A- Adminstration
K- Knowledge
A- Affordability
‘Maka’ also means home in Luganda. The idea was to provide jobs for women at or near home.
