I just filed a complaint with the @FCC against @Visible and @Xfinity for their abysmal handling of porting my number from one carrier to the other. Both companies say the other company has my number, and neither will help me restore cell phone service. My 13 hours of trying to work with their support reps over the last four and a half days weren't successful, so hopefully this will be. Otherwise, my business line and cell phone number of 26 years is lost forever, along with many thousands of dollars in lost revenue, and many hours to come of being locked out of accounts that use it for 2FA.

Being in the search marketing industry this long can be bittersweet. The industry is constantly evolving and changing. It's so exciting seeing new search platforms and behaviors arise, but it can be sad to see them go too. https://t.co/8pLFj8hkwt (formerly Ask Jeeves) was one of the original broadly used search engines of the 90's.

My family had just acquired a computer after seeing what one of our neighbors could do on theirs (i.e., visit things called websites). Naturally, as kids, we gravitated toward the new technology faster than our parents. After mastering the art of search, I remember trying to explain it to my mother. One day, she was having a problem with a tire on her car and I encouraged her to use the internet to try to solve her problem. I took her to https://t.co/VOEw6TRTwF and gave her the chair. I can still see her sitting there.

"Hi Jeeves. I have a 1984 Dodge Aries. I recently took it to the tire shop because one of the tires keeps wearing out faster than all of the others. The mechanic told me that if I am going to replace it, that I need to replace all four of the tires on the car...."

She proceeded to explain her problem as all of her children watched on, laughing harder and harder with each word she typed. Search engines couldn't handle my mom's inquiry at that time. They weren't sophisticated enough. Today, of course, we search like that all the time using platforms like ChatGPT and so forth, so in a sense, my mother was ahead of her time.

Thank you, Jeeves, for your many years of service and for all of the great memories. The nostalgia takes me back to the wild west days of the internet and all of the excitement and hope that came along with it. A time when it was a new frontier, and I was just staking my claim on the land and opportunities to be had there.
