@BladeoftheS This is what happened to Vietnam after 1975. We wished we took all the capital and redistributed. Jailed all millionaires/billionares. Guess what? the whole country went dirt poor and collapsed within 1 year. Your idea is not old.
Socialized medicine never runs out of admins. It runs out of machines.
Canada has 432 MRI machines. Ten US states each have more.
The MRI wait time in Canada is ~4 months.
The MRI wait time in the US is ~4 hours.
Canada's solution: More MAID
@noahkaufmanmd This income might be equal to a hospital-employed interventional cardiologist working from 8 am to 8 pm like a slave. 100 usd per month is equal to a phone line bill with AT&T maybe but get unlimited care.
@noahkaufmanmd Let's do a simple math to see how doctors are riped off.
With direct primary care, we have a panel of 600 patients per day. Each one pay 100 usd per month (mid-low end with current market). It is 720,000 usd per year.
@ajlamesa Lol, look at UK and Canada...or even Northern European countries. You broke your bone, you may not see doctor till your bone heals itself lol
Unfortunately, another example of academic virtue signaling.
If AI is disclosed transparently and can help researchers more clearly communicate their science, how is it a negative?
So I went down the rabbit hole of trying to determine what are the economics for someone, who is currently healthy , to go to a HDHP with a 10k plus deductible.
The question I asked is “I dont trust insurance companies. What happens if I have a million dollar emergency and they won’t pay “. All I can say is WTF
If they don’t pay, there are Independent Review Organizations, who are supposed to be independent, and their decision to pay or not is final. I asked for examples of companies. One was ExamWorks. That rang a bell.
These motherfuckers are the same company that issued a ridiculous denial for a patient I was trying to help. So I knew the Too Big To Care, vertically integrated insurance companies hired them to do DENIALS !!! WTF.
The biggest customers of the companies that are the final decision makers for insurance carrier denials, are the biggest insurance companies.
That is beyond fucked up. It’s the definition of conflict of interest. How do state insurance commissioners allow this ?
The high deductible plans that many people say is the solution to fixing how we do insurance, may be effectively compromised
If you are looking at a HDHP, BE CAREFUL
It might just be rigged against you
doctor owns the imaging center:
“conflict of interest”
“health system” owns the doctor, imaging center, lab, surgery center, pharmacy and urgent care in a pure fee for service arrangement:
“integrated care”
@tjparker Ok, so I smoke 2 packs per day, I do not discipline myself so my BMI is 40, I eat all crappy food...at one point, I get all heart diseases, cancers...with the expectation that I will be the post powerful participant regardless lol
