@RealKiTsKorner @UltraErtz @DadOfRomanAri @JonHeyman it’s also the fact shohei only pitched 85 innings. phenomenal pitching but only for 14 games. if he pitched even 50 more innings then he’s runaway mvp. given pca 150+ games of league leading fielding run value, i can’t quite get on board with ohtani pitching being more valuable

@RealKiTsKorner @UltraErtz @DadOfRomanAri @JonHeyman i just don’t see the sense in ignoring pca’s fielding value as part of his war though bc that’s part of his game, whereas shohei doesn’t. just like i don’t ignore shohei’s pitching value in his total war bc pca doesn’t. if shohei played the field then id agree with that point

@RealKiTsKorner @UltraErtz @DadOfRomanAri @JonHeyman they both do things that the other doesn’t. so you can’t keep one and remove the other. given that they have nearly identical hitting stats, the discrepancy in WAR is pca’s fielding/running value vs ohtani pitching/running value

@RealKiTsKorner @UltraErtz @DadOfRomanAri @JonHeyman ok take away pca’s pitching war, he doesn’t pitch. now take away ohtani’s pitching war. his total war is now even lower than pca’s. one player is in the field, one player pitches. WAR evaluates all aspects of the game. so you either keep both or get rid of both
