It has been reported that police have recently visited Renee-Rose Schwenke about a so-called 'offensive' social media post she posted. Not threatening, not inciting violence, just that it allegedly offended someone.

If this report is true, this is '1984 thought-police' level overreach. It should seriously frighten every New Zealander who believes in freedom of speech.

This is not about whether this particular post was offensive or not. There will always be personal responsibility and consequences for people voicing their opinions that are viewed by some as tasteless or gormless or offensive - but those consequences should not be by way of a police visit.

No one has the right to not be offended, nor do they have the right to be protected from having hurt feelings. In fact it is precisely the right to be able to offend which is the foundation of freedom of speech in our country.

This has happened overseas with more regularity where social media posts, opinions, views, expressions, and even jokes are now deemed offensive by some authoritarian power and have been met with threats from police, arrests, or even convictions in court.

We never thought we would see this happen here and it has a chilling effect on where we are going as a country.

As Oliver Wendall Homles Jr said, freedom of speech also comes with responsibility of speech - you cannot falsely yell 'fire' in a crowded theatre without there rightly being a consequence. We already have laws around 'responsibility of speech' ranging from defamation to incitement of violence, and that is important - but people's freedom to have their own free opinion is something which should be aggressively defended.

We don't all have to agree with each other's opinions, but we should all fight for each other's right to have them. This is the essential foundation of our free democracy.

If we start to accept this kind of overreach by police to curtail individual freedom of speech, our democracy will fall into the type of totalitarian oblivion that will destroy our country.

Chris Hipkins has said that Labour is willing to means test superannuation that would affect hundreds of thousands of kiwi seniors - just like they did in the 1980s.

‘Means testing’ is another way of saying the government will be able to refuse to give you your retirement super income if they decide you don’t deserve it.

As the saying goes, when the going gets tough they always go after the young and the old first.

Our Kiwi Super is not a benefit, it is a long standing Kiwi entitlement. Kiwis who are 65 or above have worked 30,40, sometimes 50 years paying taxes and building this country.

We have an obligation as a government to look after our seniors in their retirement and protect their super.

We demanded in our coalition agreement that super won’t be touched - this will never change while NZFirst has a say.

NZFirst is the only party that will never allow the hard-fought Kiwi super to be hacked away from our seniors for any short term gain - the rest want to attack it and take it away.

Four years ago in 2022, a full year before the last election, we ruled out working with the Labour Party.

We did that because the left are full of woke self confessed communists who would turn our country into a basket case.

Nothing has changed. In fact they are even worse. No, we won’t do a deal with Labour or their Marxist and separatist mates.

Act, stalled out long ago, are now behind their 2023 election result. Out of the last 15 polls, NZFirst has been ahead of Act 13 times, They have been ahead of Act in the last 10 straight.

WP first topped the most preferred PM in the late 80’s and by the 90’s his numbers were in the high 30’s, outshining Lange and Bolger and then Bolger and Clark. Now he’s up against two idiots both called Chris.

Two weak leaders who hover around 20% on a good day. Give it a few more months, WP will be the most preferred PM, on last polling he is only 4% behind a sitting PM.. Luxon’s astounding collapse vs WP’s logical ascension.

Heather is picking 15% for NZFirst in November. I think it will be much higher. Kiwi’s are sick of woke, sick of weirdos, sick of weak leaders. Sick of climate alarmism, sick of race communism.

We want strong, clear, decisive leadership and OUR interests put first. The internationalist acolytes in National and Labour still don’t even understand that, it’s such a simple concept, but is beyond them.

At the present settings, things economically are about to get very difficult. Uncertain times and weak leaders don’t mix, I believe NZFirst can clear 20%, we are talking 4x their last election result. It’s all there for the taking.

The re-orientation of New Zealand is about to begin.
