I didn’t say he was placed on a pedestal. What I said is that many people have expressed sympathy specifically for him over the years, not just his family, and I am right about that.

Chris’s death and his heinous actions are often framed against the backdrop of the effect Eddie’s death had on him, as well as his abuse of steroids and the brain damage from which he was suffering.

Respectfully, sir, your comments on this, including your response to me, do little more than make many young people who are sympathetic to the cause of mainline restoration feel dismissed by you and people in your camp. It seems many have heard the words coming out of these young peoples' mouths, but have not taken even a moment to breath (let alone thoughtfully consider what has been said) before responding in annoyance at the notion that anyone would question the current ecclesial landscape.

I have yet to see a response to Richard which actually deals substantively with the argument he has put forth. Unfortunately, what I have instead seen many times is older individuals smugly shrugging off any suggestion that might challenge their preconceptions.

It's quite simple, really: if the PC(USA) has devolved to such a degree as to strip it of its status as a true church, faithful American Presbyterians have a duty to abandon it; however, if the PC(USA) is still in fact a true church, faithful American Presbyterians have a duty to return to her and fight for her reformation.
