Small gestures can change the course of someone’s day. @WBZPhotog caught this moment when a viewer stopped to express her appreciation & put a big smile on my face. Reminded me how simple kindness can have a profound impact. A stranger in #Dorchester made my day!
And forget “stigma.” I never cared what anyone thought. Keeping up with others is dumb.
Skilled workers are badly needed. School is much cheaper and being in demand = job security.
Finally, in five years no one will ask where you went to school.
Talent and drive win out.
I went to UMass Lowell for two years and transferred to Emerson to save $$. I commuted to save $$
I picked a school w/ great resources for my career and it paid off. It doesn’t always.
Don’t be lured by big names and “it’s what people do” isn’t a reason to go.
Some really good perspectives in here:
Plumber: Consider trade school
Young professional: Save $$ w/ transfer program
University President: Prices must come down
Recent grad: Find the right school and major
5:34 A.M. and the expressway is a mess.

Today @wbz lost an incredibly talented young man Jim Murphy.
Jim loved his wife Stacy and kids Gavin and Quinn more than anything in this world.
We spent hours working on #Patriots stories - and laughing!
If you can, please help his family.
RIP Murph

Jim was an amazing editor. We worked until the wee hours of the morning perfecting stories.
Jim won 3 New England Emmy awards, but he could have won as many as he wanted to - he was that talented!
Being a good husband/Dad was most important. I loved him like a brother. RIP Jim
Stunned to hear about Jim Murphy’s sudden passing. Real nice, laid-back guy who was always ready to help out. He was also an EXTREMELY talented editor who edited a slew of memorable Boston sports videos. We had a blast back @ the Super Bowl in 2008. He will be missed. RIP Murph.
This is terrible news.
Murph was a GREAT guy and extremely talented.
An absolute pleasure to work with.
My thoughts are with his family, his co-workers, and his many friends.
