While out monitoring plants today near @Toolik I heard what could only be described as a bird mimicking a grasshopper. I knew there must be a bluethroat around but I did not have my binoculars. I went back and I found a handful of handsome bluethroat singing away in some willows.
@uafairbanks scientist Tom Glass was a consultant on the new @BBC series #Mammals. His episode "Cold" features his research on #wolverines and was filmed @Toolik. Check out a clip at the link & B sure 2 catch the series stateside in July! #Nature@BBCEarth https://t.co/EYxwPb5hhI

Still alot of snow to move up at Toolik Field Station in order to welcome the researchers who are migrating north along with the birds.
Joe is knocking down this pile to make room for more snow piles. The dozer might look small in the photo but it is a large normal sized dozer.
Our seasonal naturalist Seth is back at the station and already spotting incredible wildlife. Muskox battles, endless ptarmigan, migrating birds and more! Read all about it in our Naturalist Journal, published daily.

Is it spring?
Cold first day up at Toolik with highs near 15 and lows below 0f. Despite the cold it is beautiful with bluebird skies. Not to be out shown the mountains a radiant with alpine glow in the evening and the ptarmigan flicks are getting ever bigger.
How are #Arctic#plantpollinator interactions affected by warming? Check out our new results using #ITEX#opentopchambers. Great leadership by Roxaneh Khorsand!

Excited to see our work help the new BBC series "Mammals" showcase some of the amazing life of a wolverine. We've worked for almost a decade to help ensure the conservation of this species. @Toolik@TheWCS @JonathanSlaght https://t.co/kQKjPiLnVo
The first siksrik of the year has emerged from hibernation at Toolik! The Toolik ground squirrel population usually wakes a little later than those closer to the Brooks Range.
Welcome back to the station, ground squirrel.
