Very good to engage with Swedish civil society at the invitation of Minister @sigriddiana.
My message to them: creating jobs through growth, reforms, sound macroeconomic management & private capital will take us further.
We’re committed to doubling down on this agenda.

1. Ukraine must defeat Russia
2. Putin and co are held accountable for the war crimes
3. Ukraine becomes a NATO member state
That's how the war should end, says @AnnelyKolk, Estonia's Ambassador to Ukraine, in an exclusive interview with EP 👇🏻

1/2 What’s happening with the damaged 🇷🇺 oil tanker? The case of Eventin, a Russian shadow fleet tanker stranded in the Baltic Sea, shows how hard it is to paralyze Russia’s shadow fleet, writes @zeitonline, citing @ben_hilgenstock. https://t.co/4gcthHsoFg
It is a great honor to be considered for the role of Governor of the Bank of Latvia @LatvijasBanka. I am ready to leverage my international experience to strengthen Latvia's economic resilience to shocks and foster growth.
It is an honor to have been able to testify on export controls to the US Senate alongside experts @damspleet and James Byrne @RUSI_org. Written testimonies and video recording are available here https://t.co/sdNQi83R0r
#OTD 3⃣4⃣ years ago, participants of the Barricades of 1991 selflessly defended the restored independence of Latvia 🇱🇻. People gathered to erect barricades and protect critical infrastructure. These events remain a notable historic example of non-violent resistance.

Our colleagues at the Kyiv School of Economics have published a groundbreaking report uncovering significant ties between the Russian Psychological Society (RPS) and the Kremlin. It highlights how RPS promotes state narratives, militarizes society, and influences international psychological associations and networks. (My take: hijacking science for propaganda.)

⚙️ How are economic sanctions impacting Russia's ability to finance its war against Ukraine? @TorbjornBecker from @SITEStockholm explains how Russia’s economic resilience is weakening, and declining growth is putting pressure on war financing https://t.co/qTBMvWYQe6 #FREENetwork
Every time the US tightens Russia sanctions, Western commodity analysts predict a spike in oil prices. Most egregious case of this was mid-2022, when the G7 oil price cap had some predicting oil at $400 per barrel. All this stuff has been wrong and is pro-Russia fear-mongering...

Implemented Proposals of our group
1. Reining in Russia’s Shadow Fleet
“New steps that should be taken this year include (i) reining in Russia’s shadow fleet through tanker designations to reinstate the price cap’s leverage.”
Implemented: Sanctions targeted 183 vessels
So proud of our latest work Paper 21 “The Path Forward on Energy Sanctions”: we clearly showed the proper market conditions (highlighted by Treasury), urged to reinstate the grip with designating a big portion of vessels, and suggested going to different sectors like insurance and traders and producers, and called upon banning provision of services.
Truly well done @sanctionsgroup

The latest U.S. sanctions target 2 major Russian oil firms (Surgutneftegas & Gazprom Neft), 160 tankers, key traders, insurers, and U.S. oil service providers in Russia, disrupting 30% of Russia’s oil exports and tightening the noose on its energy revenue stream. #Sanctions
"President Biden must tighten sanctions on Russia’s energy industry. The most straightforward and most effective step would be to sanction every ship currently operating in Russia’s shadow tanker fleet."
