Whisper it but the core fundementals of Unai Emery's philosophy seems to be embedded already in the new recruits. Almost as if 4 weeks of chaotic " getting to know you" has given way to players looking at ease in the system, repetition and formula of the manager.
But...
Add more attacking youth, pace, a better ball retention of the ball up front ( Jackson over Watkins) and Suzuki ability to find channels with one drilled pass and Villa now have two character's.
1. Emery ball. The play out from the back, risk taking, controlled possession.
2. Counter attacking. I said earlier season that in Mbaye, Jackson (exceptional at ball retention and team mate awareness), Hemmings, McGinn, Manzambi etc etc would potentially thrive on quick counter attacks. It's now a reality.
Aston Villa cam now legitimately go to tricky away grounds, soak up pressure knowing they can counter and score. Even with Ollie that wasn't always a given and was often dependant on his personal form.
Emery 2.0. Work in progress but the prospect of this team when it matures together is tantalising.
UP THE FUCKING VILLA!! 💜 💙
Surely we've got a ready made chant for our new boy Suzuki in the chorus of Bob Marley's 'Iron Lion Zion'
'He's gonna be like iron
Our Lion
Our Zion'
Or something like that 🦁💪

🚨Unai Emery on Youri Tielemans saying Manchester United is bigger than Aston Villa:
🗣️ Unai Emery: “I saw what Youri said about Manchester United being a bigger club than Aston Villa, and honestly, I cannot be angry with him for saying that. Manchester United have an enormous history, a global fanbase and a trophy cabinet that speaks for itself. That is the reality of football.
“But I also told Youri something when we spoke about it: ‘Youri, never forget what Aston Villa did for you.’ He came here, became an important player, helped us compete at the highest level and gave everything for this club. We were proud to have him.
“If a player gets the opportunity to join Manchester United, of course he can be excited. But being bigger historically does not mean you automatically become a better team. Aston Villa have ambition, and Manchester United have ambition. Now Youri has to prove that he can take everything he learned here and make an impact at Old Trafford.
“I wish him nothing but success. He deserves to play on the biggest stages, and I will always be grateful for what he gave Aston Villa. But when he plays against us, I hope he remembers that Villa will not be afraid of Manchester United.”
Happy Birthday to the brilliant simger and environmentalist Feargal Sharkey (Sean Feargal Sharkey) who was born on this day in 1958. One of good guys. In fact you can say he definately has A Good Heart ❤️ #FeargalSharkey#theUndertones#Water#AGoodHeart
Everton fans demand “transparency and fairness after disproportionate sanctions”. @EFC_AdvisoryBoard issues strong statement “acting on behalf of all Evertonians” calling on “all football authorities to urgently review sanctioning criteria in light of the hugely disproportionate penalties imposed on Chelsea and Everton.
“These recent disciplinary outcomes raise serious concerns about consistency,
proportionality, and the integrity of the regulatory framework in place in English
football, as demonstrated by both the Premier League and the Football Association.
“Whilst all those fans we represent acknowledge that the cases involving Chelsea and Everton are not comparable in terms of the natures of the offences, this does not undermine the key issue of clear and obvious inconsistency in the outcome and the punishments imposed on both clubs.” (Chelsea, in mitigation, self-reported issues from a previous regime). #EFC graphic below from Everton FAB 👇

Referee miles off the standard. Half a dozen yellow card offences unpunished so to make up for it he gives one or two to show he's being fair. At this standard, not being good enough spoils the game.
That apart, England had better territorial dominance, Anderson patrolling Messi well. More quality and adventure needed.

Right. I managed to get the Mayor of London to budge on access to Wembley a year ago so I'm fucking sure i can make something happen in Birmingham.
Large arenas in Birmingham, security companies who can make large events safe, Birmingham Council and local MP'S along with high profile Villans who can sprinkle magic and logistical know how. Please contact me here or email or LinkedIn.
The challenge? Making a safe event with the biggest fuck off screen on earth available for 30 thousand kids and families and Villans to watch the Europa League Final live. At cost price only with any spare money to go to Acorns Hospice.
Or give your space and time for free with ALL money going to Acorns.
If Spurs and Palace can cater for their fans, I fucking know we can.
🚨🎙️ Roy Keane on West Ham’s disallowed goal for a foul on Arsenal’s Goalkeeper David Raya
"I tell ya what, that VAR decision is a complete and utter disgrace – an absolute joke!
All season long Arsenal have been crowding the goalkeeper on set-pieces, pushing, shoving, blocking – it’s been their main tactic from day one. We saw it clear as day against us at Old Trafford when Saliba backed straight into Bayindir, stopped him from making a proper save, and they nicked a goal through Calafiori. Nothing given. Not a murmur. But now, in a massive title-deciding match against West Ham, when it doesn’t suit them... suddenly it’s a foul on Raya? Are you kidding me?
What the hell are we even watching in this league anymore? It’s shameless, it’s embarrassing. At this rate just hand the title and the trophy over to Arsenal now, because it’s glaringly obvious what they’re trying to pull. Total, utter disgrace."
Perry Bamonte, the guitarist and keyboardist in the Cure, has died after battling a short illness over Christmas. He was 65.
The Cure confirmed Bamonte’s death on the band’s website on Friday, remembering his contributions to the group during his two stints in the band, first from 1990 through 2005, and then from 2022 until now.

A win and a clean sheet, Anderson's composed performance the stand out, Eze and Madueke decent first half alongside cameos from MGW and Gordon made things a little more palatable.
Apart from that, completely disagree with tv pundits saying they can see what the overall plan is, because I can't other than a press and attacking width with should be a given at this level.
Worry isn't about qualification, it's about England having no real elite level test pre tournament and that means not knowing other than a small handful, who can actually be elite at this level. Half the squad this camp under 10 caps, 18 under 20 so freshness, invention should be a given.
Tuchel's reign so far, 5/10.
