Our sanctification is grounded in Christ.
Sanctification is the work of God via our union with Christ.
Our good works are not our sanctification; they are the fruit of the sanctifying work of God in us.
Christ is the all-sufficient Vine. If you are a branch in that Vine, in him you have all you need to face the situation he has given you.
Abide in him.
The main reason we go to church is for God to serve us.
+We go hungry ; he feeds us his Word.
+We go dirtied by sin; he cleanses us by the blood of Christ.
+We go thirsting for hope; he gives it to us in the gospel.
+We go shrinking from shame; our Father tells us once more that we are his beloved children.
Yes, we respond to God with prayer and praise. But the primary reason we go to church is for God to do what God does best: gift us, feed us, serve us in Christ.
@NeverReformed@justin_perdue So you think Justin doesn’t teach that we are to be committed to Christ? The problem is you read and heard what you WANTED to read and hear, not what was actually said. And somehow you missed the point that none of us are perfectly committed to Christ that’s the point, no one is!
The gospel is not a clean slate or a fresh start. It isn't a mulligan or a 'do over.'
The gospel is 'Christ for us.' Sins forgiven. Righteousness imputed. Death defeated. Devil destroyed. Eternal life secured.
In Christ, we are loved, known, prayed for, and kept.
