My quick reaction: this is highly, highly unlikely to be accurate. It is simply impossible that GD would show so much support considering the voter turnout, unprecedented opposition mobilisation, their prior election results and the overall mood in the country.

@thomas_wier My intuition says this is related to mč̣reli მჭრელი (sharp, something that cuts). When one sees a bright light, a flashing light or an item with sharp colours, it is common to say თვალს ჭრის (tvals č̣ris, or cuts the eye). It is also not rare to lose m (e.g. m-chadi, m-kvakhe).

@jelger_ And 1 more thing (as if the whole thing was not already 2 complex) - Eredvi&Tighva admin./s had existed since 1996 but under the status of Temi, not Raioni. That meant they had their sub-level admin./s despite the fact that they were subordinate to respective raionis -Gori&Kareli

@jelger_ All true. Just a minor detail - those municipality administrations still exist (along with Akhalgori and Azhara (Kodorj valley) municipalities). They and their respective Saktebulos sit in Tbilisi.
