Human societies have had public streets that prioritized commerce, public gathering, and public transportation for literally thousands of years before the invention of the private automobile.
It’s past time to prioritize cars on *every* street.
@envirodefence found that the Government of Canada provided at least $10.2 billion in #fossilfuel subsidies and public financing in 2025. Since 2020, the federal government has provided more than $85 billion to oil and gas companies.

Video of what appears to be TPS officers tackling & arresting a cyclist during a stop sign trap on the MGT.
Cyclist - "What did I do wrong?"
Cop - "You didn't stop."
If true, this is excessive use of force for a traffic stop.
Traffic at Billy Bishop fell to 1.7M in 2025 from 2M in 2024.
What's the rationale for spending $5M on expansion, other than meeting the financial needs of a US investor who made a bad deal?
The jet runway scheme would take a wrecking ball to plans for housing, walkability in Toronto, and likely make the harbourfront a polluted cesspit. That's why my @EnviroDefence team is funding @NoJetsTO & @normsworld to ramp up their important work!

The Toronto Port Authority is holding their AGM on June 11th. I read their Financial Statements - and they raise big red flags about their hasty support of Doug Ford’s plan to bring jets to Billy Bishop Airport:
1) Ridership is down at Billy Bishop
2) Billy Bishop is relying on higher operating fees to prop up revenue
3) Based on current revenue, they’d have to forego any profit for between 80-300 years to pay for the expansion
4) Based on their 2017 Environmental Assessment, the decision was made against introducing jets, and those conditions have gotten worse - not better
Here’s my letter to the Toronto Port Authority. The public deserves answers to the following questions:
Did Ontario just get snookered into a $5 billion airport expansion that no one wants for the benefit of a handful of American investors?
The plot thickens.
(You have to admit, it was odd how this popped back onto the agenda, out of the blue).

This whole Billy Bishop expansion is being driven by an American bank that won't even disclose its role in the lobbying campaign. Doug Ford is destroying Toronto's waterfront to help out American bankers at our expense.
PM Carney: STOP this madness.
Economic dev. is when cities retain and attract best people.
How?
Making living Healthier & Happier the easier choice.
Toronto needs the islands & airport as PARK.
Make it a National Urban Park.
Do what is right.
For now: STOP the airport expansion!
The federal government can still stop amendments to the tripartite agreement governing Billy Bishop Airport — meaning, they have the power to stop the expansion, full stop. Let them know you say NO to destroying our waterfront!

Thank you @CityNewsTO for interviewing me about my transition as an advocate into a City Council candidate in Parkdale—High Park! I'm running to champion affordability, housing for all, arts and culture, and to fight Doug Ford. https://t.co/DLg0iI6N9j
28 cyclists and 11 cars make their way through an intersection on University Avenue during rush hour on a Thursday, 8:45AM. The moving vehicles (and 3 parked cars) are allotted 3x the space. These actors are not acting in good faith.
This is utterly abhorrent. Just two days ago, I attended a town hall with hundreds of local residents who strongly oppose the takeover of the Toronto Islands and the expansion of Billy Bishop Airport. @fordnation does not give a shit about local democracy!

Bike share ridership has soared annually over the past five years. In 2020, 2.9 million rides were logged. By 2024, that figure sat at 6.9 million.
7.8 million rides occurred last year – 231,000 of them involving first-time riders, a 39% increase from 2024.
Cycling is growing - and our city is better for it. #OneLessCar
