🔭 Exploring the concept of adaptive acoustic comfort by bringing together experts from often distant communities, such as #soundscape and adaptive #thermalcomfort, around a partially virtual table. The results are collected in this new @BNEJournal paper:

👂Outdoor acoustic contact encourages window opening in more comfortable #soundscapes, while outdoor noise drives window closing, particularly for noise-sensitive individuals. The study highlights the importance of considering #noisesensitivity in window opening behavior research
🔔New paper published in @BNEJournal on "Factors Influencing Window Opening Behavior and Mechanical Ventilation Usage during Summertime: a case study in UK dwellings". @UniTrento@UCL_IEDE@soundscape_SSID@f_aletta https://t.co/MlPEmCJCEb
🪟Based on a measurement campaign conducted in 61 homes in England, the study shows that window opening and HVAC operation are primarily driven by thermal and perceived indoor air quality factors.

If no-one is there to hear a ghetto blaster in a glacial valley, is it really noise pollution? Tin Oberman, @f_aletta and @TorresinSimone have been to the Arctic Circle, the Dolomites & the Cairngorms to conduct 'soundwalks' to explore.
