I did our riverfly ecological monitoring this afternoon. Pleased to report that numbers are where they should be for the time of year, and that Commons Lake is healthy and unpolluted. The data collected is fed into a national data base https://t.co/Zr4tfA5xiY
I've written about ticks in our Crier article this month, but these photos really show you what to look out for. And here's a website with more information. https://t.co/dxRpefMb2r https://t.co/Jb4OEABq2y
We’ve started putting these little signs up to let people know when they are coming on to the Commons in some of the further out places that not everyone realises are part of the Commons Then I got distracted by the flowers!
Butterfly hunting with the Devon butterfly conservancy trust today. We found Speckled wood, Orange tip, Small white, Brimstone , Peacock, Small tortoiseshell and Pearl bordered fritillary butterflies. And a couple of lizards.

You might spot a black oil beetle put on the Commons at the moment. These are a priority species of principal importance for conservation as their numbers are in decline due to habitat destruction. I spotted this one on the path across the golf course!
Super walk around the Commons this morning. Thanks Mandy Harrison! How lucky are we to live here and get good weather for the holiday weekend. Loving the new signs too ..so smart and natural and definitely do not need added colour. Cavaliers hard at work on The Mayflower.
