Catholic political and social thought, one of the foundational intellectual traditions of Western civilization, is poised for renewal as a new international initiative seeks to bring it back into conversation with decision-makers of tomorrow.https://t.co/xGgwusUAZV
Chris was a paid Obama operative, and the organization he took over was run by John Podesta and funded by Soros. Clearly, his core mission is to increase the Catholic vote share for Democrats -- he doesn't hide this, hence the framing of his project as Pope Leo vs. Trump and MAGA Republicans. It's a profoundly crass and sinister desecration of the office of the papacy and the faith -- and any Catholic in media who indulges the act should immediately stop. But with Rubio today and Elbridge Colby a month ago, he occasionally latches onto a news event or Republican figure with a different level of intensity, and pushes brazen falsehoods for just long enough for the subject to enter the bloodstream of the news cycle, before walking it back quietly, mission accomplished. It's a classic operative tactic.

'When I was asked to name the contemporary writer whom I most admired, I used without hesitation to say — until he died in 2014 — Pierre Ryckmans, better known as Simon Leys.'
Theodore Dalrymple
I recommend this wonderful collection of essays by Simon Leys. He is rarely mentioned around here.
@ToryAnarchist@HorcherF While there is plenty in Scruton for an Aristotelian like me to appropriate, I think it's right to think of him primarily as a Kantian, or more broadly a German idealist, considering his regard for Hegel.
"With the election of Leo XIV, a new era began in the life of the Catholic Church. One of the... questions of this era may be how it relates to the tradition of Catholic social teaching initiated by Pope Leo XIII, after whom the current pope is named."
