The only path to decarbonization is individual carbon consumption reduction. As a government, a solution would be to keep track of citizen's carbon footprint through expenses and restrain it below a certain threshold. Goods have not only a financial cost but a carbon one too.

Le problème dans l'avortement c'est qu'on centre le débat sur les femmes alors que c'est l'enfant assassiné dont on devrait se soucier.
Les femmes sont libres de disposer de leur corps mais pas du corps d'autrui dont elles sont responsables dans le cas de la grossesse

@TechPolicyMPhil People shouldn't be ashamed of not wanting to be vaccinated. Nobody is compelled to take the flu vaccine every year, however the epidemic is under control. I am confident it will be the same for COVID 19

@ItanEsther No it will work with only the richest countries using it, the poor countries have low carbon impact per capita so if the rich make the change, the value will be huge already

@ItanEsther To increase your carbon threshold, you could pay a tax and if you are way below the threshold you would receive a subsidy, this way the good lifestyle is encouraged, and the poor countries would receive from the rich
All of this is just a thought and will certainly never occur

@ItanEsther Not reducing consumption but shifting consumption, if we were to start it early enough, the carbon footprint threshold would be set high enough in the beginning and would decrease at a slow steady pace, thus enabling economies to adapt

@ItanEsther Poor countries are the ones with the smallest carbon footprint per head, usa, eu and japan are way ahead and embody a lifestyle goal that every citizen from a poor country wants to achieve. If people from developed countries change their lifestyles, other countries will follow
