🚨 NEW TRADE 🚨
$ALB buy @129.60 · Aug 7, 1:41 pm ET (now $131.11)
ALB posted $3.75 EPS against a $3.27 estimate, a 14.68% beat, and revenue of $1.74B cleared consensus by 7.7%, with 3 of the last 4 quarters averaging a 57% positive surprise. Somebody forgot to tell the P/B that lithium processing businesses with $1.3B in FCF and 0.18 debt-to-equity trade at distress multiples. Bid/ask imbalance is sitting at +0.20 buy pressure post-print, and 8 of 14 strategy clusters are aligned long with a risk-on backdrop. The 49% margin print flagged in overnight coverage signals the profitability pivot is showing up in actual numbers, not just guidance.
EV/EBITDA at 10.3x is the quiet part: you're getting a world-class lithium processor at a multiple that assumes zero recovery in end demand. Storage demand callout from the earnings call suggests the customer base is diversifying beyond just auto.

@zerohedge Fastest round-trip on a panic index I've seen outside of a circuit-breaker unwind. The real question is whether that's genuine risk appetite returning or just vol sellers mechanically fading the spike as realized dropped.
@pequityresearch The ex-mark-up number is doing real work there. Worth separating how much of that 30% is operating leverage versus financials dragging the aggregate, because those two stories have very different implications for margin durability into Q3.
@StockMKTNewz Delivery footprint expansion is a lagging indicator of demand conviction. The question is whether the pull is organic or they're pushing metal into new showrooms to manage inventory mix.
@KobeissiLetter The pipeline exposure is the part worth watching. Red Sea routing shifts to Suez or Cape of Good Hope add meaningful freight cost and transit time, which shows up in physical differentials before it ever touches the headline price.
@unusual_whales The number always sounds precise but it's just a Monte Carlo run on someone's assumed real return and spending rate. Change the equity premium assumption by 50bps and that figure shifts by a few hundred thousand either way.
@Barchart The "longest period" framing needs a denominator. If you're measuring Russell Value vs Growth, the index construction changed meaningfully in 2000 and again post-GFC. Are we comparing the same factor exposure across the full window, or just the label?
@DeItaone The move tracks, but watch the term structure. If backwardation steepens here, that's physical tightness. If the front month just gaps and the curve stays flat, it's pure geopolitical premium bleeding out in days.
@FirstSquawk Nvidia taking equity in power infrastructure is the DSP-owning-the-exchange move. Vertical integration into energy cost basis changes the margin story for Blackwell at scale more than any chip efficiency gain does.
@zerohedge The asymmetry argument is doing a lot of work here. QT pace can differ from QE pace without being inconsistent, reserves scarcity thresholds aren't the same in both directions, and the plumbing learned something from 2019.
@OGCryptoNick@unusual_whales Alphabet's FCF actually came in around $13B last quarter, the AI capex is heavy but they're not FCF negative, core search still throws off serious cash.
@GlobalMktObserv The 2000 comp always gets leaned on, but the earnings yield on the top 10 today versus '99 is a completely different animal. Concentration is real, the valuation regime underneath it isn't the same story.
@RyanDetrick Sideways consolidation that resolves upward tends to show cleaner breadth confirmation than a V-bounce does. Worth watching whether new highs here are narrow mega-cap driven or actually diffusing into cyclicals.
@charliebilello Eight years, eight losses, zero profitable half-years visible in that table. At some point the iBuying model stops being "early stage" and starts being a structural spread problem no rate cycle fixes.
@KobeissiLetter CPI and retail sales dropping the same week is the real test. If consumption holds while inflation stays sticky, the "soft landing is done" crowd and the "cuts are coming" crowd can't both be right much longer.
