Preparations are in top gear at the @UoE_Main as Eldoret gets ready to host the #UNWorldTourismDay2026, Kenyan Chapter celebrations on the 27th September 2026.
The @UoE_Main is taking shape as a key venue for the celebrations, with activities being put in place to welcome participants and showcase the tourism potential of Eldoret and the wider Uasin Gishu region.
Eldoret brings a distinctive character to this year’s celebrations, shaped by its sporting heritage, rich agricultural setting, cultural diversity, vibrant local life and the growing range of experiences within and around the city.
The occasion presents an opportunity to look beyond the event itself and experience Eldoret as a destination its people, culture, landscapes, enterprises, food and the everyday experiences that contribute to its tourism appeal.

During UN Tourism Week 2026, participants took part in a tree-planting exercise along the Sosian River in Eldoret City, Uasin Gishu County, as part of the week’s activities.
The exercise brought together tourism stakeholders and partners to contribute to the restoration and protection of the local environment, while highlighting the connection between healthy ecosystems, vibrant destinations and sustainable tourism.
As Eldoret hosts UN Tourism Week, the tree-planting exercise adds a practical local dimension to the conversation on tourism demonstrating that destination development must go hand in hand with caring for the natural spaces within our communities.

Tourism Secretary Mr. @dgitonga18 represented Cabinet Secretary for @Min_TourismKE, Hon. @rebecca_miano, at the Annual Kenya Tourism Federation (@KTF_Kenya ) Networking Gala in @TamarindTreeKe Hotel, where he delivered the CS’s speech and joined tourism industry leaders and stakeholders under the theme “Reflect, Network, Celebrate Tourism.”
In her message, CS Miano reflected on the milestones and transformation of Kenya’s tourism sector, recognising the resilience of the industry and the collective efforts that have sustained its growth through a rapidly changing global landscape.
She emphasised that tourism must continue to evolve with the changing world embracing innovation, responding to emerging trends and adapting to new opportunities while building on Kenya’s strengths as a destination.
The CS further underscored the importance of stronger collaboration between Government, the private sector and other tourism stakeholders to unlock investment, strengthen competitiveness, drive innovation and create greater opportunities across the sector.
The Gala provided an important platform to celebrate how far the industry has come, strengthen networks and renew a shared commitment to the future of Kenyan tourism.
The journey ahead calls for resilience, innovation and stronger partnerships. Together, we can transform change into opportunity and position Kenya’s tourism sector for sustained growth and global competitiveness.

Tourism Principal Secretary Amb. (Prof.) @JuliusKBitok today witnessed the signing of a strategic partnership between the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) and @emirates on the sidelines of the 2026 Arabian Travel Market in Dubai.
The agreement, signed in the presence of KTB Chief Executive Officer @JuneChepkemei and senior Emirates representatives, will deepen collaboration in destination marketing and strengthen Kenya’s connectivity to key international markets through Emirates’ extensive global network.
As Kenya advances its ambition to welcome five million international visitors, strategic partnerships across tourism and aviation remain central to expanding market access, strengthening Kenya’s global destination profile and supporting sustainable growth in the sector.

The opening of #RonaldNgalaUtalii College marks a significant milestone in the Government’s commitment to expanding access to quality tourism and hospitality education, strengthening skills development and creating opportunities for Kenya’s young people.
@Min_TourismKE Cabinet Secretary Hon. @rebecca_miano, reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to developing the College into a centre of excellence that delivers industry relevant training and equips graduates with the skills required to thrive in Kenya’s evolving tourism and hospitality sector.
@TourismKE__ Principal Secretary Amb. (Prof.) @JuliusKBitok, underscored the College’s strategic role in strengthening Kenya’s tourism workforce through quality training and skills development.
He emphasized the importance of stronger linkages between training institutions and industry to enhance pathways to employment and enterprise.
The establishment of #RonaldNgalaUtalii College is an investment in human capital with far reaching implications for the tourism and hospitality sector. The institution is expected to contribute to skills development, enterprise growth, investment and socio-economic transformation in @KilifiCountyGov and across the Coast region.
The Government remains committed to completing the outstanding works at the facility and providing the necessary support to enable the College to realise its full potential as a centre of excellence for tourism and hospitality training.

Tourism Principal Secretary Amb. (Prof.) @JuliusKBitok, held a consultative meeting with @NarokCountyGvt officials and Directors responsible for Tourism and Wildlife, led by H.E. @OleNtutuK, Governor of @NarokCountyGvt, to review preparations for the 4th edition of the #MaaCultural and Tourism Festival.
Scheduled for 4th – 8th November 2026, the festival will bring together communities, cultural practitioners, tourism stakeholders, county governments and partners to celebrate, preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of the Maa community.
The festival will provide a platform to showcase Maa culture, advance cultural tourism, create economic opportunities for local communities and further position Narok as a leading destination for cultural tourism.
