A fantastic day tour round the Peaks with Paula & Jackie yesterday (despite the occasional soaking!) Pied Fly, Dipper & Ring Ouzel were all on the wishlist and we managed to get great views of all three. Add in Spotted Flycatcher, Tree Pipit, Cuckoo & Red Kite it was a top day!
I'm blessed to have a local patch with numbers of Brown Hare (and just a stones throw from the edge of the city) - this mornings walk found 8 in just 3 arable fields before the rain. Also a pair of incubating Oycs, 6 Skylark, 4 Linnet, 2 Yellowhammer & Whitethroat @HPT_Official
A great morning with a lovely group in the White Peak - Redstart were the star with c15 singing males and a minimum of 5 active nests. Dippers galore including juvs and adults feeding a 2nd brood. 4 Spotted Flycatcher, Peregrine, Red Kite & Garden Warbler (3) @DerbysWildlife
What an excellent evening group walk at #lockopark - it started with a sitting Oystercatcher and ended with 3 sp. of bat (Daubentons, Pips & Noctule) feeding over the lake. In-between there were Fallow Deer (8), Brown Hare (8) & top views of 2 fab Barn Owls @_BCT_@DerbysMammals
The Serengeti of South Derbyshire with several Cattle Egret doing what it says on the tin by the Trent - a lovely couple of hours at @DerbysWildlife#Willingtonwetlands today. 5sp. of heron/egret, Cuckoo, Kingfisher, 6+ Common Tern, 2 Sparrowhawk & 4 noisy Oycs @Derbyshirebirds
That's a bit more like it! Second recce at a new Nightjar site and lots more activity (as you would probably expect in 30 degrees). A minimum of 4 birds with churring, wing clapping and three flying together at one stage. Lovely views of Woodcock too @Derbyshirebirds#Nightjar
What a wonderful morning for our final spring group walk in the Dark Peak today - we enjoyed fabulous views of Ring Ouzel with singing Tree Pipits & Redstarts, calling Cuckoo's and cute chicks popping up like this young Lapwing. Star of the show was fab views of Golden Plover 😍
Nightjar recce this evening - only 3 short bouts of churring but flight calls from 2 birds and a brief male in flight. Not much activity on a chilly & windy night but promising for when things warm up! Great views of Woodcock akso Gropper, Redstart, Tawny & Hare @Derbyshirebirds
Three spaces left on our Sunday 31st May 'Best of the White Peak' walk - it was a belter last time out with great views of Dippers and oh so many Redstarts. I'm quietly confident we can add Spotted Flycatcher this time too! 👇 @DerbysWildlife

A top 'Best of the White Peak' group walk this morning - not often that Redstart (14+) is upstaged but our views of Dipper (4) including a pair feeding a brood in the nest were insane! Peregrine, 3 Garden Warbler, 3 Green Woodies & a first Swift too @UKRedstarts@DerbysWildlife
Top walk with a lovely bunch @DerbysWildlife Willington Wetlands this morning - 8sp. of warbler, top views of Common Tern, Swift, Red Kite, Cattle Egret, a calling Cuckoo, a pair of Yellow Wagtails and a brief hunting Hobby. Wonderful to find this toad near the tower hide too 😍
Great walk in the Dark Peak with Mark who wanted to see Ring Ouzel - we found a minimum of 6 birds including a couple of obliging males. Other highlights were a drumming Snipe, Golden Plover, c8 Curlew, 3 Redstart, 4 Pied Flycatcher and some lovely Lapwing chicks @DerbysWildlife
Top day at #Highleasfarm. Our breeding bird survey produced a couple of interesting sightings with a flock of c15 Lesser Redpoll buzzing around and a lovely post breeding flock of 11+ Crossbill with a good mix of juvs and adults. Decent numbers of Tree Pipit too! @Derbyshirebirds
Back from Skye and an early walk at #lockopark had me thinking I was still up north with a Cuckoo calling & 2 Willow Warbler singing (part of our Skye soundtrack) on a very chilly morning. A 1st Gadwall of the year, Oystercatcher, 4 Lapwing, Barn Owl, 15+ Swallow @Derbyshirebirds
Last day on #skye & with a damp forecast and a long drive home tomorrow we decided to stay local and really pleased we did as we finally found Otters with what looked like a mum & last years kit. Several GN Diver, a fine Greenshank, 5 Bar-wits, 4 Shelduck, Whinchat & 8+ Wheatear
Fantastic walk in the Red Cuillins along Loch Slapin and down Srath Mor thinking this looks 'eagley' but no joy until this beast of a Sea Eagle put in an appearance! 😍 Plenty of Common Sandpipers, Wheatear & 2 Cuckoo around with Snipe further down, RB Merganser on the loch #skye
Another top day on #skye - a quick visit to pretty Plockton on the mainland but we were missing the Cuillins too much to stay too long. A fab evening walk in Broadford Bay and our best views of Sea Eagles this trip with 2 adults around with one fishing something out of the bay!
Loch Coruisk never fails to amaze especially when the weather is as good as today! Predators of all sizes on display from a Golden Eagle along the ridges and Common Seals loafing at the entrance to tiny sticky Sundews and insectivorous Butterworts. 1st Tysties of the holiday (3)
Gorgeous (if chilly) Day 2 on Skye. Great walk down to the Point of Sleat with stunning views of Eigg, Rum & the Black Cuillins. 5 Wheatear, 4 Snipe, 3 Cuckoo on our walk with c6 Twite around the crofts near the point. Manxies + Bonxie & Arctic Skua harassing Kittiwakes offshore
