🛣️🇯🇲 This government is very responsive to your calls, concerns and outcry, and your frustration with the state of our roads is being addressed.
I want it to be clear to everyone, that it was always the plan of the government to address our road infrastructure in a major way. We have been all over the country and confirmed what we already knew - that Jamaica’s roads are in need of serious and dedicated investment.
That is what prompted the SPARK program which will bring roads to communities that have never had good roads and rehabilitate roads that have been in deplorable conditions for years.
While the roads have been bad for some time, the recent sustained heavy rains have made matter that much worse. That is why we created and implemented the emergency road patching program which you can see happening right across the country. This $2 billion Emergency Islandwide Main Road Patching Programme will repair restore key routes, improve safety, and support daily life for Jamaicans.
If work hasn’t started on the road you are concerned about yet, don’t worry, the patching and road rehabilitation are coming.
The vision to fix Jamaica’s road on a long-term sustainable way, backed by the financial capacity to make it happen, are why it is important to have capable leadership in place.
Now after decades, we finally have the assurance that right across Jamaica “road a fix” and you were part of the process.
SPARK goes beyond roads—it includes upgraded water systems and the integration of fibre-optic technology to drive Jamaica’s digital future. This is about building modern infrastructure that serves the needs of today while laying the foundation for tomorrow.
Let’s keep building and improving for a better life for every Jamaican. 🇯🇲
