I wanted to share an event put on by a new local organization called BIPOC Rising, led by Rep-elect Joseph (HD 10) and Lafayette Mayor JD Mangat + Boulder County Democratic Party. It was developed to help recruit and train a diverse slate of future candidates to run for office.

They are hosting an all-day training, on Sat. Jan. 21 to have BIPOC elected officials share their experiences, challenges, and successes. Following the training they are hosting a reception from 5:00-6:30 pm to meet other local officials from the Democratic Party!

Today, Governor Polis announced further recipients of over $1.3million in Outdoor Equity Grants! Congrats to these organizations, building off of the release in July of the initial 43 awardees which included Girls on the Rock (Boulder) and Rugged Research (Longmont) near HD-12!

Congrats as well to the City of Lafayette and Thorne Nature Experience for their work in the Community Impact Program! They received funding to construct the Lafayette Nature Center and make improvements to nature play and community gathering spaces: an equity-centered approach!
