Update: I caught a scoring mistake in my earlier men’s team projections.
With the corrected totals, the projected team race is:
1️⃣ Oregon
2️⃣ Florida
3️⃣ Arkansas
4️⃣ Oklahoma
The key swing events we highlighted (3000m, 400m, 200m, 4×400) remain the same.
@MikeBasic2@kcraw21 I’ve seen much, much, much worse than this. Not the greatest example for the point he is trying to make. Like you said, depends on the loading and context/progression around this, but there is nothing inherently wrong with this.
Quick way to think about the title race:
Oregon path: distance races + relay points hold
Florida path: big 200m + sprint scoring
Arkansas path: strong 400m + sprint depth
With several events involving contenders, the men’s title could swing multiple times.
Small correction to the men’s projections: I missed a couple events in the original scoring calculation.
With the full meet included, the projected team race looks like:
1️⃣ Oregon
2️⃣ Florida
3️⃣ Arkansas
4️⃣ Oklahoma
Still a very tight championship battle.
Men’s Team Race
The men’s meet is much tighter.
Projected contenders:
1️⃣ Arkansas
2️⃣ Florida
3️⃣ Oregon
4️⃣ Penn State
The projected margin is only a few points, so a couple races could swing the entire championship.
Even with the corrected projections, the swing events remain largely the same:
• 3000m
• 400m
• 200m
• 4×400 relay
Those races involve multiple title contenders and have the biggest potential to shift points between teams.
Men’s Swing Events
The most important events for the title race:
• 3000m
• 400m
• 200m
• 4×400 relay
The 3000m is the deepest event in the meet and could shift 10+ points between teams.
NCAA Indoor Championships are here. Looking at the start lists and event depth reveals where the team titles are most likely to be decided.
Here’s a quick breakdown of the Women’s and Men’s team races, the swing events, and the performances that could decide the meet 🧵
