One of the most interesting challenges ahead for Caitlin Clark is learning how to have a great game that nobody turns into a viral clip.
The defense takes away the deep three. The spectacular passing window never opens. The crowd wants a moment, but the right play is a simple pass followed by another cut.
Can she keep making that decision without feeling the need to manufacture something extraordinary?
That is a fascinating burden for a player people buy tickets specifically to watch. The audience wants the experience. The team needs the possession.
The next level is recognizing that she can command everyone’s attention and still let somebody else finish the play. Sometimes her biggest contribution will be the defender who refuses to leave her, opening a lane she never enters.
I don’t want her imagination restrained. I want her comfortable enough in her greatness that an ordinary-looking decision never feels beneath it.
When spectacular is always available, choosing simple can be its own kind of confidence.

There's no "big league" in any sport where 10+ regular season games of a particular team have more viewers than the finals.
That means the administration of the league has failed in growing the league and there's a financial shock brewing.
The new commissioner has work to do.
After 13 straight WNBA Finals press conferences without being called on, I finally got to ask Rhyne Howard and coach Karl Smesko why the Dream skip the anthem.
Neither explained why & Atlanta PR shut down follow-ups: “Next question.”
The Caitlin Clark shoes are the only shoes in a protective case at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Jacksonville, FL.
Congrats CC!
