Let be honest. This has nothing to do with respect for women or biological sex just being a label anymore can claim. This about your prejudice against transexuals. Mtf transsexuals alter biological sex thru hormonal and surgical transition.
Let’s make this uncomfortable:
I respect women too much to pretend biological sex is just a label anyone can claim. I have nothing against transgender people living however they choose—that’s their business. But I will not be bullied into pretending biology doesn’t exist.
Women experience menstruation, pregnancy, childbirth, menopause, and the lifelong biological realities of being female. Those experiences matter. Respecting someone’s identity does not require me to erase biological sex.
And yes, I STAND WITH SOPHIE CUNNINGHAM. She should be allowed to express her views without being bullied, threatened, or told she has no right to speak.
You can disagree with me. You can disagree with Sophie. But disagreement does not equal hate, and nobody gets to dictate what other people are allowed to believe.
If that makes people uncomfortable, so be it. 🔥
@Altermerea I know this seems comical and quaint to you but you're missing the big picture!
This was published in 1998, to help transsexuals as they were assimilating into womanhood during transition.
Before TRAs and the TQ keyboard warriors from moms basement, we were becoming accepted!
@AndInTheEnd2 There's one glaring hole in this argument you could drive a lorry through.
They're using the data of inclusion of a boy into a girl's social structure.
With proper gatekeeping you're not putting a boy into a girl's organization, you're adding a girl with an physical abnormality
I actually find this interesting:
"when specialist-level psychiatric treatment was controlled for, neither all-cause nor suicide mortality differed between the two groups:"
The controls had no psychiatric treatment/interaction.
So, the study, comparing GD to general population controls - had 3 times the suicide rate but GR neither made things worse NOR better.
It seems that GR was a non-factor for the group studied. To make any assertions about it as evidence
"They explicitly state that medical gender reassignment “does not have an impact on suicide risk.”
for those with co-occurring psychiatric morbidity.
we don't know if their existing condition would have resulted in suicide if they'd never sought GR, only that GR didn't help OR HURT that group - but there is no indication that such a goal was sought.
Relying on the study to determine lack of a 'life saving' benefit is not even 'weak' evidence. Almost all of the GD patients were already dealing with comorbidities. GR was not sought as a 'cure' for them.
So, let's parse this a little.
You acknowledge that there is a small cohort in which medicalization is appropriate - and while never noting that such a cohort has been dealing with their condition since early childhood, that is their reality. And while you implicitly suggest it IS something that happens in childhood, you reject the same treatment protocol BECAUSE of their age. Do you reject treating children for other medical conditions due to age? Or is it JUST this circumstance....because....fertility?
Further, you acknowledge that there is a majority of trans that are NOT those facing the above, and they shouldn't be medicalized. I agree. So do most reasonable adults. But based on the previous paragraph, YOU REFUSE to treat those that ARE facing the above. You abandon them to years of dealing with the consequences of their condition, because 'age'.
There are multiple studies indicating that when the cohort is clearly defined and diagnosed, treatment helps. It certainly doesn't make them worse.
Activists of all stripes tend to the extremes of their arguments - that they do should not move the overton window of actual support for people facing a serious condition.
You are another person that doesn't understand HOW AGP was "diagnosed". If you did, and understood biology, you'd reject the hypothesis behind the term as any reasonable scientist DOES.
And once you get all the way to the end, you ignore the rest - or at least the implications - to assert something without evidence. NO ONE argues someone is born in the wrong body - that was a phrased used in the past to try to explain to people like you, a concept for which you have no context, the psychological state of being gender incongruent.
Then, you leave your final argument to address the transvestites you brought up - in response to activists - as the sole arbiter of the 'correct political position'.
Congrats on your attempt to be politically correct.
It falled.
@freakyvatory@Altermerea @alyssa__belle @burnthelilacs Yes. Women are adult human females and men men are adult human females. Gender expression is not gender
Change the ratio, change the whole body. Cellular functions, organ changes, secondary characteristics respond to the ratio. Over time, 5-7 years, there is little that has been unchanged.

As to the chromosomes. Almost all biological processes are governed by the genes on the X chromosome we all have. The cells that are dimorphic (about 40%, processes are dependent upon hormone ratios) use the ratio of estrogen to testosterone to determine what proteins to build.
Transsexuals believe that gender is fixed and immutable and that they are that gender, sex needs to be changed to conform to that 'reality. trans - sex, to go from one sex to the other.
Transgender believe that gender is mutable, fluid, and that they reject their natal gender in favor of the other gender(s). Altering their expression, even to the point of medicalization, is an attempt to conform to their desired expression. trans - gender, to go from one gender to the other.
The two are fundamentally different, and there is no overlap.
Transsexuals, the people that WPATH was formed to help, were systematically removed from the Standards of Care from 2003 on. There was, is, significant failures on WPATH's trajectory from the late 1990s, that actual transsexuals tried to bring to light. BUT, the actual population of transsexuals is less than .2%. WPATH began supporting the 10x larger transgender, heterogeneous cohort, poorly.
Objections to it are worthwhile, however, the fact that WPATH lost its way, does NOT mean, transsexuals ceased to exist then, or now. THAT is the problem we have with YOUR and other's approach. You seem to consider ANY indication that there are gender incongruent individuals and that ANY care offered them is corrupt.
There is no nuance, no allowance for the small minority that benefits from treatment, you only see the 'most' as proof that 'all' is the only option.
