It sickened me when the police officer said "I don't want you to pray for me and I don't think your prayers get above your head." To me this goes to show the arrogance of the police officers during that time and how lowly they thought of us. #AFRusa20

@kemjacks Nonviolent tactics were effective since people nationally marched and talked about the violence in Selma. Civil Rights leaders reshaped democracy by President Johnson asking for a comprehensive voting rights bill. He also said that their cause is our cause too. #AFRusa20

It was personally heartbreaking to see what black people went through living in the state of Mississippi. Also that the citizens council punished people who supported black voting rights and went to extreme measures by firing workers and refusing loans to farmers. #AFRusa20
