The outrage from conservatives about trans athletes ruining women’s sports is actually a bit absurd, because traditionally in Western societies competitive sports was seen as a domain that belonged to men.
Women started entering competitive sports in real numbers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Women’s singles began at Wimbledon in 1884, women first competed at the Olympics in 1900 in events like tennis and golf, and track and field plus gymnastics were added in 1928. This was part of the progressive movement toward greater gender equality and public participation for women.
Traditionalists and conservatives of that era were strongly opposed.
G.K. Chesterton wrote:
“Even a savage could see that bodily things, at least, which are good for a man are very likely to be bad for a woman. Yet there is no boy’s game, however brutal, which these mild lunatics have not promoted among girls.”
Others argued it would lead to immodesty and unladylike behavior, and that it put too much stress on young women’s bodies in ways that could cause infertility or other health problems.
That last objection actually has some validity. Competitive female athletes, especially in endurance and aesthetic sports, often experience menstrual disruption or loss of periods, hormonal issues, and related problems linked to low energy availability. These can temporarily affect fertility and increase risks to bone health.
And we’ve all seen how immodest female athletes dress these days, and how even women just going to their local gym often wear extremely revealing skin-tight outfits that leave nothing to the imagination.
Why should we as conservatives be trying to protect women's sports? Why not let the progressive movement eat itself? Just keep your girls out of these masculine games that they were never meant to play.

@libsoftiktok This will probably result in female sports being eliminated altogether. Not sure if that's actually a bad thing though. Do we really want young women being trained towards competitiveness?
@GuntherEagleman If they’re willing to go along with the idea that children can consent to sex reassignment, surgeries and cross sex hormones, there’s really nothing stopping them from going along with pedophilia in the future. This is where consent-based morality leads us.
If you're an anti-feminist and you haven't seen About Schmidt, I highly recommend it. It's marketed as a comedy, but it's really a horror film that perfectly depicts the despair feminism inflicted on boomer men.
Warren Schmidt is introduced retiring from a long career as an insurance actuary. His office is as drab as the retirement party they threw him. He once planned to start his own business and build a real legacy, but his wife Helen wouldn't allow him to take the risk. So he spent decades in a job that left him feeling empty instead.
Helen hits him with not-so-subtle insults and corrections in practically every conversation, managing him as if he were an incompetent employee. Their only child, their daughter Jeannie, has been trained to disregard his opinion the same way her mother does.
The film shows what happens after Helen dies suddenly. He lived his entire life for her and his daughter, subordinating his own ambitions and keeping his opinions to himself. Now she's suddenly gone, and he's facing the void.
He tries to get more involved in his daughter's life, and she pushes him away. He warns her that she's making a huge mistake marrying her fiancé — a waterbed salesman from a dysfunctional family who Warren sees as a complete fool — and she shuts him down, telling him it's too late for him to start caring about her life choices now. His wife put him in a muzzle and even after she's gone, he's stuck with it.
Warren ends up "adopting" a child in Tanzania — writing letters, sending money — because it's the only place he can feel like he matters to anyone. The letters are the only place he tells the truth about his life, and the only person who ever hears it is a child on another continent who can't understand a word.
It perfectly portrays what feminism did to the boomer generation. The women were trained — by the magazines, the advice columns, the daytime television — to view their husbands as fools in need of management. The law shifted to allow for no-fault divorce, and in the fattest economy in history, the boomer wife could lord over her husband and demean him, the threat of divorce always looming. On the other side of divorce was a big paycheck.
I'm starting to wonder if Christopher Nolan is secretly based.
He cast Lupita Nyong'o as Helen of Troy, the most beautiful woman in the world. She doesn't fit the role, she's no Halle Berry. Nobody watched that and thought, yes, that could really be the face that launched a thousand ships.
He cast the performer formerly known as Ellen Page as a soldier. Not a masculine-looking trans man who could convince you that a trans man can really look like a man. A short, weak, feminine performer who does not sell the trans agenda at all.
If he wanted to push the agenda more effectively, he could have cast a really gorgeous black actress and a convincely male-looking trans "actor". He did the opposite.
On top of that, he altered the roles these two played in a way that fits more with the reality of who they represent.
Nyong'o plays both Helen and Clytemnestra, the wife who murders her husband when he comes home from the war. We witness her stab her husband with a vicious animalistic expression on her face - acting like the worst stereotype of an aggressive black woman.
Page plays Sinon, a naive young soldier who believes the Trojan horse deception he is selling, defends it until his dying breath, and is run through with a spear. The trans performer is plays naive useful idiot who promotes a lie and is destroyed by it.
What if Nolan's casting and character re-writing choices here were really a subtle form of malicious compliance with the woke agenda?
He checked the DEI boxes on paper, but was this really good for woke-ism?
@TruthAnswersAll No, they haven’t. Those on the right who are usually eager to question media narratives immediately accepted this one and are not willing to rethink their position because they consider it a left versus right culture war issue. There are some exceptions like @OwenBenjamin
@Badgerskunk1 She pretty but casting her as the most beautiful woman on earth doesn’t feel plausible to me. Charlize Theron is better looking despite her age, in my opinion.
