@PBakera31938@Rohanburdened Large enough samples will always trend towards a reliable representation of reality just by laws of mathematics. Not always *perfect* but statistically reliable enough for meaningful analysis.
@dareeexc@BullTheoryio Mosquitoes are invasive in most of the world, having hitched a ride on human transport (boats). Their ecological niche is quickly filled by other native insects when they are removed.
@suchnerve I installed a browser extension to replace the word “Millennials” with “Snake People” and it was hilarious. I’d forget about it until a “Snake People are killing the diamond industry”
@LuciaLobosvilla@SanjayVedi Agreed and that is one part I find disappointing. I came to like Ezra, and Chopper is fun, but Sabine and Zeb are badly under developed
@SanjayVedi@LuciaLobosvilla Rebels was TV-Y7 while TCW was TV-PG, which explains the difference in content. Still, Rebels has some solid moments.
I happened to watch it while Andor S1 was airing and seeing the same time period depicted in WILDLY different tones was fun.
@Jarjar63655428@Purrl471 It’s the only second-person plural available in English. Spanish has “Tus” and “Ustedes”, French has “Vus” etc
For some reason English abandoned that construct so we had to re-evolve it. “Y’all” has purpose and value
@quirked_up_anzu Galen was brought on towards the end of the project to nail down powering and concentrating the beam, which the Geonosians could never get right. The “giant spherical hive-like structure that can house a million people and travel through space” part was still all them.
@muaddibstyle I was thinking about how Jedi who fall victim to inquisitiors or Vader in later years are still basically victims of “Order 66.” They’re all still operating under that initial command.
@FixYouthsFuture@thepanta82@LinkofSunshine I understand your feelings, and shared them in the past. I had misgivings about the e-collars when I heard about them.
Every professional dog training facility in my area uses them. I don’t think that would be the case if they were ineffective, counterproductive, or abusive.
@FixYouthsFuture@thepanta82@LinkofSunshine I think there’s a difference between products called “shock collars” (which are bad) and the “e-collars” used in professional training. The e-collar provides a tactile sensation that quickly becomes associated with “it’s time to listen and respond” through classic conditioning.
@thepanta82@LinkofSunshine Those collars are used to communicate with the dog, not to discipline them. The shock administered is not painful, it’s like a tapping or pulling sensation. It provides an additional stimulus, alongside verbal cues, to get and keep the dog’s attention.
