The people of Venezuela need help, not obstacles. If international rescue teams are ready to assist, they should be allowed to do their work without interference. Saving lives must come before everything else.

May God protect every rescuer, firefighter, paramedic, volunteer, and emergency worker risking their lives to save others. The world must stand united behind one cause: saving lives and helping the people of Venezuela.

Countdown to July 4! 🇺🇸

Patrick Henry (1736–1799) was one of Virginia’s greatest orators and a fiery Founding Father whose words ignited the American Revolution and helped secure our independence. He served as Virginia’s first governor after our independence.

Born in Hanover County, Virginia, to a Scottish immigrant father Henry struggled in school but taught himself law and was admitted to the bar in 1760. His brilliance shone in the courtroom, most famously in the “Parson’s Cause” case, where he eloquently challenged British overreach and won widespread acclaim.

Elected to the House of Burgesses in 1765, Henry quickly became a leader against British tyranny. He introduced the Virginia Stamp Act Resolves, boldly declaring that only colonial assemblies could tax Virginians and famously warning King George III with the words: “If this be treason, make the most of it!”

His defining moment came on March 23, 1775, at St. John’s Church in Richmond during the Second Virginia Convention. With British forces threatening, Henry delivered one of the most powerful speeches in American history, urging armed resistance:

“Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty, or give me death!”

The speech electrified the delegates, helped sway Virginia toward independence, and became the rallying cry of the Revolution. Henry was soon elected commander of Virginia’s militia and, in 1776, became the first post-colonial Governor of Virginia (serving multiple terms, including 1784–1786). He supported the war effort, supplied George Washington’s army, and championed liberty at every turn.

A staunch defender of individual rights and state sovereignty, Henry later opposed the U.S. Constitution in 1788, fearing it created too strong a central government. His passionate arguments in the Virginia Ratifying Convention helped secure the addition of the Bill of Rights, safeguarding so many of the freedoms we cherish today.

Henry retired to his Red Hill home but remained a voice for virtue, faith, and limited government. He died in 1799, a true son of Virginia whose eloquence helped birth a nation.

Patrick Henry reminds us that bold words, rooted in principle and courage, can change the course of history. In an age of uncertainty, his call echoes still: Liberty above all.
