New blog post!
We wrote a very short summary of an important article in @VoluntasJournal by @caitlinmcmullin which focuses on the need for #qualitative#researchers to think more about the role of #transcription in qualitative research.

@Schreiberland @shaunmicallef Hey Dan, could we help with transcripts of WCBW? It's our favourite podcast and it'd be an honour to help spread it further with the inclusivity that transcripts allow for people with hearing problems, as well as improving your GoogleJuice.
Dr McMullin has a new article in @PMReview_! Check out the rest of the thread for a Very Important diagram which is an absolute masterpiece. Hopefully there'll be merch of it soon.
As a transcription service, we often spot the emergence of trends in the spoken word.
It is in this informed capacity that we have to urge everyone out there to stop the sudden resurgence of "okey dokey".
Please people, take yourselves seriously!
Trying and failing to come up with non-twee Christmas themed touches on our website. Ideally we all want our home pages to have snow falling on them at all times, right? That's not a nightmare for screen readers or anything.
Much of the content of the podcast is informed by the hosts' teaching and we also use the episodes as a teaching resource. Every episode comes with extra materials, which are available for free at https://t.co/KDz17FoN8s - have a look and see what you can use!
@caitlinmcmullin @urbaneprofessor@JonRainford Late to this conversation, apologies. Here's a blog post we wrote about recording telephone interviews. We should add a PC recording bit. The main thing we would recommend is that if you're using your PC to record something DO NOT TYPE AT THE SAME TIME! https://t.co/2krLTDcYCu
@eim_hurley@JDMcGlynn I reckon the horror of voice confrontation and the annoyance of finding out one's linguistic tics are the reasons we get a fair chunk of our work! It takes guts to listen to yourself be professional.
Fancy a job where your commute is non-existent?
Do you know where apostrophes should go?
Do you find that when you're typing and someone is speaking, you start typing their words? THAT'S LITERALLY THE JOB!

@HannahJMcGill @LadyCatHT We wrote a blog post about this phenomenon, it's called 'voice confrontation' but having a name for it doesn't make it any easier!

@h_wootton Twitter doing its best to make sure the triggering gif of Kermit typing doesn't get seen by those already knee deep in transcription.
Good luck!
