@AlYourPalster@realpdxscanner E Burnside and 122nd. So either NE or SE depending on which side of the street you're on.
Also, there are trains running back to the yard at that time. This was train 70, which is a Yellow/Orange. There is usually service toward yards, but not away from them.
I count 50 MAX blocks on a weekday. If they were all two-car, that would be 100 MAX cars.
At the low estimate, I estimate 137 MAX cars in the active fleet.
That means a surplus of 37 cars.
Today only 2 of the 9 Green blocks have 2 cars.
There is no excuse for this. #trimet
@trimetbusfan@Line30Estacada Well a one-car Blue or Red is much, much worse, so this is warranted.
But it just seems with 37+ extra cars, it shouldn't be as common as it is. Is the fleet in that bad a state of repair?
@Line30Estacada On average, the Green has the same mix of trains that run on the rest of the system. One week particular train is running one-car on the Green, the next running in tandem with another train. There's no rhyme or reason to it.
I'm wondering though if it's saving power with one car
@yourpalX I think it's really that the old technology, while more robust, isn't supported anymore. Much like the Type-1's: aside from being high-floor, there is nothing wrong with them. It's just getting impossible to maintain.
@trimethelp For future reference, a lot of people seem to be confused by this sign, thinking that rides are free all day.
(If you go to the link, it says after 8pm, but it's not obvious by this sign.)
