Today #SEPTA deployed its first digital real-time arrival display at a bus stop in South Philadelphia as part of a pilot program to bring more real-time information to riders. 🥳
SEPTA installed the first device at the northeast corner of Broad St & Oregon Av which serves Bus Routes 7, 63, and 68. Nine more devices are coming to Bus stops as well as T, G, D, and M stops/stations across the system:
• 40th St Trolley Portal (T2, T3, T4 & T5)
• Schuylkill Av & JFK Blvd (9, 44, 62, 124 & 125)
• Stadium Station (M1)
• Girard Av & Broad St (G1)
• Girard Av & Front St (5 & G1)
• City Av & Presidential Blvd (1, 44 & 65)
• Drexel Hill Junction Station (D1 & D2)
• 52nd St & Market St (52)
• Allegheny Av & Kensington Av (60)
Pilot locations were selected based on two key criteria: overall customer impact and geographic equity.
The screens are solar-powered, use e-paper technology, and are unique because they are small enough to be mounted on a bus stop sign pole. Each device is equipped with a text-to-speech button which gives blind and low-vision riders access to the same real-time service information.
Knowing when the next vehicle will arrive was a top priority for many of the 20,000 riders who participated in the comprehensive community engagement efforts for our New Bus Network.

In a newly public report from last year, ETA illustrates how the region can use Metro-North Penn Access to build a truly regional rail network.

- This misses context of variable vs fixed costs (ridership\labor)
