Photographer & photobook maven. Thinking about & making photographs occupies most of my time. M, film, chocolate & rugby are known to divert me. Occasionally.
@RasberryRazz I completely agree. Joan Crawford is stellar in it of course, but it also throws the whole ‘american west’ cinematic hagiography right up in the air. Sterling Hayden was a genius casting decision to upend the all american solitary cowboy trope, and those colours…ermergerd!
If portraiture is your way of photographing people + community then I can't recommend this book enough.
Bey is considered to be the natural heir of such renowned photographers as Roy DeCarava, Walker Evans, Gordon Parks, + James Van Der Zee.
It shows in his approach + work.
@PippaCrerar@PaulLewis@Direthoughts Starmer knew and approved it anyway. At best he has terrible judgement, at the worst he did it for reasons which were dodgy. Either way, he can’t be trusted to make the correct decision in the face of expert advice and against the interests of the country. He has to go.
@Channel4News Israel is razing Southern Lebanon to the ground as these people speak. Gazans living in flooded tents with 70,000 (and counting) dead bodies under the rubble of destroyed hospitals, schools and houses. Flattened. C4News’ participation in this level of gaslighting is disgraceful!
@zaaaarbi Filmtwt is its own ecosystem, mostly driven by bad faith engagement. At its absolute worst in the 12 weeks from New Year & the week after Oscars. Take it with a pinch of salt at this time especially, fwiw I agree with you
…you are right they were all great, and they did…. 😊
@SquidgeRugby ah squidge don’t, I can barely look as it is - we‘ve been collectively traumatised over the last 2.5 years, it’ll take that much again before I can take my hands from the front of my face during a Wales game! (and I love Italy too!) #itsthehopethatkills
@ZackPolanski Make sure you/your leadership team have access to a fantastic legal team skilled at contesting defamation in particular. Zero tolerance demonstrated from the outset, or the reputational hits from (inside & outside of Westminster) will cost a lot more than money in the long run.
@chrisw100@TheGreenParty You should have a hard look at Makerfield next. (currently Labour’s Josh Simons) Who are the outstanding local Green candidates there, start prepping the ground…
Jafar Panahi is going to prison for his latest film It Was Just An Accident. I want you to remember that fact when you hear so called “artists” at #Berlinale regurgitate the company line that cinema isn’t political. It is. It always has been. That’s part of the essence of art.
@RasberryRazz Aah good to know ! It was so unlike any post from you, I was worried you might not be able to get your account back. (I love the stuff you post!)
