Having a K-12 school that partners students across grade levels can have so many benefits! @DrJoseDeLeonPKY and his high school statistics class created Carnival games that our third graders played. It was a fun and engaging way to review math! #pkyongedrs

Our third graders love partnering each week with their second grade reading buddy. They are naturals at discussing texts and helping their second grade partners apply reading comprehension strategies. This is #collaborativeliteracy at its finest! #pkyongedrs

It's important to discuss real world issues with young learners, too. In my #STEAM club, we read about #IsatouCeesay and the women in The Gambia. We discussed the #OnePlasticBag project, then we collected plastic bags and used them to make jump ropes. #engagedlearners

Building community is an important part of the new school year. One way you can do this is to allow students to learn more about you. This morning, we sampled some honey extracted from my family's bee hives.

Inspired by #cainesarcade, P.K. Yonge 2nd and 3rd grade students researched, designed, and created arcade games out of cardboard. Our "All-You-Can-Play Fun Passes" were a huge hit and we were able to raise $405.65 to go towards Bahamian victims of Hurricane Dorian.
