427 personnel are assigned to #CowlitzComplex2023, with 5% contained. Crews are using hand tools, hoses & heavy equipment to establish access and construct containment line around the fires. Once line is done & heat is mopped up, fires will be in monitor & patrol status.

@sutsilvanianer @technical_ciso @paulg Yes, it’s clearly generally simple and yet I’ve routinely run into people who expressed they had not traveled here (the US) because of the process / entry difficulty. Far more who had visited of course and very few who ever had an actual issue. But perception is wild.

Obviously it’s rarely actually the process, but the perception of it. Throw in even a handful of (likely absurd) denial stories and it’s certain a deterrent.
