I recently talked about this in a video, and it's apparently a bit of a hot take
Your acting ability is significantly more important than your range
I see a lot of people worry that their natural speaking voice just isn’t “unique” enough to be used for VA work, and they stress over needing range
I’m not saying having range is a bad thing by any means. But from my own personal experience, and from every casting director I’ve ever worked with, your ability to genuinely perform is what actually lands you roles
Having range AND good acting? Sure, that gives you a lot more options
But the acting itself is always going to need to come first
If you feel like your voice isn't unique, don't let that hold you back. Focus on the performance
@AAVARION I have read through the description and i dont know if i am the right person for this but you never know. if it helps the project come to life, Ill give it a try.
@LewisSmithVA hey my name is Travis. I'm a remote voice actor who has some experience in dubbing, video games, and children's cartoons. this is my visual reel
