@LessCrime I echo @JedKnode on everything. Hot take: I encourage using library() sparingly and instead using the package::command() syntax. Familiarizing yourself with the commands of your most used packages will save you a lot of time searching for the right command.
Saturdays are for the… birds! I made a few feathered friends while volunteering at the Florida Bird Sanctuary. The resident cat—informally titled as the “Sentinel of Squawk”—was given some love as well.

“Large, precise claims without evidence are an excellent place to situate an experiment.” Whether he is talking about 👮♀️ research, practice, or policy, @ian_t_adams always shares a thing (or two) we can learn from! https://t.co/nrxXsTJ8zV
New preprint is up at @CrimRxiv, and looking forward to hearing feedback for our team with @Clempoliceprof and Geoff Alpert. These pre-registered results follow two six-month RCTs in Aurora PD (Colorado) and Richland County Sheriff’s Office (South Carolina).
Can we improve #police behavior by giving officers feedback about their verbal interactions based on AI-generated audits of bodycam footage?
Yes, and there are agency dynamics and implementation contexts to consider.

As a School, we are working to reduce barriers of entry into our PhD Program. One of the most common barriers is the application fee.
Dr. Scott Wolfe describes how we are working to reduce that barrier at the MSU School of Criminal Justice.

A student from a different university emailed me because they saw the traffic stop racial disparity work our team has done recently. They wanted to know if there were any "shortcuts" to acquiring such data. In typing my response, I wanted to share my thoughts with y'all too. 🧵
Super proud of @JedKnode and all the awesome work he has done while at @msu_scj. I am incredibly grateful to call him a colleague and even more so to call him my friend.
Congratulations to @JedKnode on receiving the Outstanding Student Article award from @ASCPolicing for his article "Pulling back the veil of darkness: A proposed roadmap to disentangle racial disparities in traffic stops."

New paper in JQ with my amazing co-authors @JedKnode and @Scott_Wolfe_MSU shows that what you drive impacts your chances of being searched during traffic stops. Check out this 🧵 for more details. #OpenAccess

Quick question--in RCTs with pre and posttreatment measurement of Y, is the rationale for adjusting for Y_{t-1} instead of using unit FEs just about power, or is there some other reason?
A team of our school researchers are using the "Veil of Darkness" method to examine police traffic stop behaviors in a recent study published to Criminology.
