#Health updates
Sometimes, #health news can sound far away until it starts #trending again. #Ebola is one of those diseases we should not panic about, but we also should not ignore.
The goal is simple: understand what it is, how it spreads, and why early awareness matters. The more people know, the faster communities can respond and protect one another.

One thing about outbreaks is that early signs can easily be mistaken for “normal sickness.” Fever, tiredness, headache, body pain, many people may not think much of it at first.
But during an outbreak, paying attention to symptoms and seeking help early can make a big difference. Awareness is not fear; awareness is protection.

Reports of a new Ebola-related strain in DRC and Uganda are a reminder that virus surveillance can’t stop.
A new phase may be upon us as declared by the WHO.

DRC and Uganda have dealt with Ebola outbreaks before. The key lessons still applies:
1. Isolate cases fast
2. Trace contacts
3. Protect health workers
4. Communicate clearly with communities
When new variants show up, these basics still work!

On Hantavirus: a (non-technical) thread.
Disclaimer: I am a biology PhD, but not virology/epidemiology. Husbandman is a virology PhD. But I’m told I’m good at communicating science, so here’s my take.
#Hantavirus
We don’t need fear. We need understanding.
The more people who grasp how viruses work, the faster we can spot misinformation and act calmly when the next outbreak hits or possibly prevent them.
#Hantavirüs#Publichealth#Virology
⚠️ A lot of misinformation is circulating about the current #hantavirus outbreak.
Facts:
🦠 Hantaviruses are not new; cases occur in the Americas every year
🚫 This is NOT “the next COVID”
📉 There is no evidence of widespread community transmission
💊 Ivermectin has not been shown to prevent or treat hantavirus infection
🌍 Public health authorities are actively tracing contacts and monitoring exposures
Concern and vigilance are appropriate. Panic and misinformation are not.
“Just wash your hands” works for some viruses. For others, it does nothing.
Understanding transmission routes = better public response, less panic, less misinformation.
If schools taught this in basic biology classes, would outbreak response be faster? Why not! #Hantavirüs
Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome is a rare infectious disease that begins with flu-like symptoms and progresses rapidly to more severe disease. It can lead to life-threatening lung and heart problems. The disease is also called hantavirus cardiopulmonary syndrome.
