I’m desperately sad about the senseless murder of this beautiful tree but filled with a sense of unity and shared love from so many people outraged by it. Trees are genuinely loved 🌳 💚
We are shocked and desperately saddened to learn that the famous Sycamore Gap tree at Hadrian's Wall has been felled overnight, in what appears to be an act of vandalism.
We know just how much this iconic tree is loved locally, nationally and by everyone who has visited.
We are working with our partners to understand what has happened and what can be done.
The incident has also been reported to the police.
This is not a joke. In these times, we are unbelievably seeing a proposal for a quarry extension into 50+ hectares of #AncientWoodland. That's about 70 football pitches of precious habitat. Mind-boggling that @Kent_cc is even considering this.
Please take the time to object!
Anyone got any idea how to turn off these purple star notifications? I mean why am I getting this notification from Joe Oakley?? I don’t do trolling at all!
Stupid question time! Can anyone help me understand something please? I was reading about the Southwell Bramley being the first Bramley apple tree. Seeds planted by girl taken from mothers cooking. How was it the first apple tree if there were already pips available? Thanks.
I just found something on a BBC website which says the pip from which the first Bramley apple tree grew was unique. It grew from a cross-pollination of two ‘unknown’ varieties of trees. Can’t verify that but is interesting.
