Catching them young :At our Epworth tree planting and nursery establishment we managed to teach children how to grow and plant trees which we believe is the cheapest , simplest and only natural way to curb climate change .

175 #indigenous#trees were planted yesterday at 6 different schools in Highfied and Glenorah suburbs. As usually, children were the stars of the show . Only 5 more schools left to go!

84 #INDIGENOUS#trees planted yesterday at 3 different schools in Highfied. It was wonderful to see the children participating with excitement and Joy. There are 11 more schools left to go!
We assessed 15 schools in Highfield and Glenorah, and a total of 500 trees will be planted. Starting Monday, we should be able to begin distributing the trees from our nurseries to the mentioned schools for planting."

Yesterday tree grower Otto Billy celebrated his birthday the eco friendly way by inviting local youths from his community and planting #trees together .What a wonderful way to give back to the #community !

Yesterday,Tree Knowers And Growers participated in the open streets event in Budiriro 5 .We raised awareness about environmental issues and encouraged the use of alternative modes of transportation, such as cycling instead of gasoline which contributes to Climate Change.

The rate of deforestation far supersedes that of afforestation .Some 330 000 hectares of forest are lost anually .This issue requires collective efforts as a country hence we strive to reach out to communities and children and inspire them to be tree growers.

To ensure a steady and diverse seed supply ,we have to be familiar with the specific seed production timetables for each tree species, so that we collect seeds from different trees at the right time."

Farai Kampira is a tree specialist with extensive expertise in airlyering,grafting and budding. With more than 20 yrs of planting trees and a thriving nursery, he has accumulated vast knowledge of indigenous trees and is responsible for the planting of them in and around Harare .
This baobabtree was just but a small seedling when we planted it at Ballantyne Park, Borrowdale in 2019. During our recent visit 5yrs later, we were happy to see it growing and thriving and it won't be long before it becomes a majestic landmark in the park.
