We LOVE #trees! We want to plant millions of trees! But we need to make sure it’s the right #tree in the right place. We can’t have biodiverse native #woodlands replaced by factory farm forests, monocultures of Sitka Spruce plantations, cash crops for forestry industry.
We want many more trees in Ireland, as part of our plan on climate action. 440 million is a huge number but it’s achievable if all landowners plant just some of their land. We are willing to make it financially worthwhile. https://t.co/MmX2sGqXM7

"The language of trees might incline us to patience. To love. To gratitude."

The way @tcddublin have let the lawns at the front of the college go wild is just so brilliant.
It's a brave, in-your-face conversation starter, questioning deep-set, long-unchallenged ideas about land, and the need for constant human dominance and control.
My homemade hedgerow is only 4m long but fits a hawthorn, hazel, guelder rose, field rose, ivy and self-seeded elder as well as raspberries. You don't need a lot of space to make a lot of space for wildlife #NoMowMay
"As a poet I hold the most archaic values on earth . . . the fertility of the soil, the magic of animals, the power-vision in solitude, the terrifying initiation and rebirth, the love and ecstasy of the dance, the common work of the tribe." - Gary Snyder
