JUST IN: Google forced to halt work in Finland after illegally clearing 250,000 trees for a new data center, according to the Guardian.

Every tree that occupied the 815-acre site just a few months ago is now gone.

The Finnish Licensing and Supervision Authority (LVV) has ordered Google to stop work on the Muhos and Otanmäki sites after it cut down the trees before the environmental impact assessment was completed.

Google’s Finland manager, Antti Järvinen, has apologized but says they were acting on "the best understanding we had of the legislation at the time."

Muhos and Otanmäki are a $17 billion Google AI project.

President Trump has criticized Google for taking the projects overseas instead of investing in the United States.

Big day for Starbase Louisiana! Today the UL System Board votes on a lease that would bring @SpaceX to the old Pecan Island School, now the Wildlife and Coastal Preservation Center. 🎉

UL Lafayette would lease the school and about 5 acres to Ragin' Cajun Facilities, a UL-affiliated nonprofit, for $1 a year for 40 years. That nonprofit would sublease it to SpaceX for 40 years, with improvements to the property instead of cash rent.

Exhibit A, the list of those improvements, is blank in the version posted for the board. The lease allows uses like housing, warehousing and fabrication, but SpaceX hasn't said what it plans.

This could mean we see a SpaceX site out here sooner than we thought!

this Austin startup (founded by an ex-SpaceX engineer) just figured out how to build your house for HALF the cost

when Elon talks about abundance and money becoming irrelevant in the future, this is what he means

the trick is building the house in a factory instead of onsite:

> machines make every wall, floor and roof panel, plus your kitchens and bathrooms

> the whole house packs into 4 shipping containers and gets trucked to your plot of land

> the crew snaps it together on site in days, with about 1/10th (!!) the labor of a normal build

right now this is just one small factory in Texas

now imagine 10 years from now, when there are 10s of millions of robots around the world constructing stuff 24/7

building is about 64% of what a new home costs in America (the land is only about 14%).

so if you take most of that away, a house starts to cost more like a car

and housing is the biggest bill most people will ever pay.

Monday was the 3 year anniversary of my Dad’s death. Not just death, but his murder. He was made to get down on his knees in his own home and was shot in the head execution style.

I mention this not be graphic but so that people know what I’ve been dealing with every day for the last 3 years. Not knowing who, not knowing why. The Henderson police department never made any arrests and let the case go cold.

The last time I saw him was on my wedding day. The last time I spoke with him was to tell him I was pregnant with a boy. Now that boy is 2 1/2 and he’ll never get to meet him, go on a hike with him, give him a flower he picked from the yard or make him laugh. He was robbed of a Grandfather and I was robbed of precious years with my Dad who was in such good health he had a 6 pack at age 77. And it doesn’t get easier with time.
